New Kings Logo Turns Up On Jacket

Seems ebay has been a hotbed of leaks lately and it appears we have another. A reader emailed in a link to a cheer jacket that's being auctioned featuring the new banner-shaped Los Angeles Kings logo we first saw back in August.

So it's interesting we're now seeing this logo on apparel in advance of the third jersey unveiling. And for what it's worth, there's no purple to be found in it. Looks like we're on a crash course with a completely black and white third jersey for the Kings.

Third Jersey Leaks Reveal New Info

Another illegitimate ebay seller is trying to hock some new third jerseys — including some that haven't been released yet. And it's the pictures that were posted that have me writing today.

If you're interested in the Lightning, Flyers or Coyotes third jerseys, I've got you covered. Still no pictures for the Senators, Stars, Kings or Sharks yet — but I'm working on it. These new images give us a better look at how the lettering and numbers will look on these sweaters.

We'll start with the Coyotes. When I leaked the first images of their new third jersey, many wondered what color the numbers would be and if they would even use the same format as the home and road sweaters. I can now answer those questions. Sand and yes.

Although obviously that jersey was made some time ago because Radim Vrbata plays for my team now and Todd Fedoruk snatched up No. 17 in Phoenix this year, I think you get the idea.

We've already seen the number and lettering styles on the Lightning and Flyers third jersey, but these pictures offer a better look. The Lightning will go with white numbers trimmed in blue and silver (no black!) and white letters for the nameplate.

The Flyers will don white numbers trimmed in black with black letters on a white nameplate. I really like that look. I just hope it isn't one of those things that starts getting copied. Just because I like something doesn't mean I want to see every team do it.

There were a lot more pictures than what I've posted here so I recommend taking a trip to Third Jersey Central to see the rest. There were also a few new photos of the Thrashers' third jersey. Keep in mind that all of these images depict Rbk Premier jerseys and not authentics, by the way.

Time To Vote!

Voting has now resumed for the Flashback '98 Logo Tournament. You can access the polls from the Vote! tab at the top of the page. Or by clicking here. Also, the IceHL logo ratings for the Central Division has begun. You can access that section from the IceHL tab above or by clicking here.

The rating period for the IceHL's Pacific Division teams has ended. I'm hoping to have polls posted tonight for the Top 3 rated logos for each team. There were questions earlier regarding how a tie will be settled. There were no ties as far as the ratings go. I have precise numbers for each team which I will reveal when the polls are ready.

However, in advance of that I would like to congratulate Sigma Kappa (ALA), JFRED (CAL), Roccot (POR), Tone Loc Productions (SEA) and Eddie Ray Design (VAN) for having the top-rated logos for each team. Let's see if your work will hold up and become the official identities for these teams.

I really was hoping to have the final logo polls for the Pacific Division up tonight but that's not looking too likely. If I don't have them up tomorrow — which I intend to — they will go up next weekend.

I'm also working on a concept post that was going to get posted this weekend but I ended up putting it off. I should have it here tomorrow.

Finally, I know you guys probably could care less for these "site update" posts and I'm going to cut back, but with this new site I'm doing a lot of work behind the scenes. I want to let you know I'm still here even when I don't always have news to post.

Speaking of news, the New York Islanders wore their third jersey again yesterday. They lost to the Penguins in a shootout putting alternate sweaters at 6-5 on the season.

Pirates Go Patriotic

The AHL's Portland Pirates basically wore the American flag tonight when they played the Philadelphia Phantoms. And I've got a picture to prove it.

That's ex-Bolt Mathieu Darche in front of ex-Pen Jean-Sebastien Aubin during tonight's 5-3 Portland victory. Look at that thing.

And if the comments earlier this week taught me anything, it's that this is a gross disrespect of a great symbol — the hockey sweater. I jest, of course. But yeah, that jersey is pretty bad.

I'm waiting for more pictures. I'm going to have to start building photo galleries for specialty jerseys like this. One thing at a time though.

Kings Back In Black?

The Los Angeles Kings sent out an email to fans previewing tonight's game against the Blues. The reason this is relevant to Icethetics is a link at the bottom of the email. The Kings are offering their new yet-unreleased third jersey for pre-sale on their web site.

And the ad reads "Back in Black." Hmm, where have we heard that before?

What irks me is whether at team whose primary jersey is black can actually say they're "back" in black? Back from where? Last night? But I digress.

So Kings fans, go and shell out some cash for a jersey you can't even see yet! It's what all the kids are doing!

By the way guys, my apologies for the complete lack of attention I've paid to Icethetics today. I plan to have the Flashback '98 tournament back up and running tonight (a VOTE! link will appear at the top of the page) and you can expect the IceHL Central Division logo voting to go live at some point tomorrow. I was out most of the day buying a new car. And it's Lightning blue!
