New Tournament Imminent

Just wanted to take a second to let you all know I haven't forgotten about this site. Plans to start up a new tournament are in the works, but it's a lot of work and I've had a rather hectic schedule lately. Sounds like the majority of you are looking forward to a CHL tournament. That's probably what we'll be doing. We'll do one league at a time culminating with a final poll between the three logos left standing. I guess all that's left to decide is do I go east to west or west to east?

Also, it's a lot of logos to collect, so if anybody would be interested/willing to help me out in acquiring current, accurate logos, I'd be forever indebted. If you know a good site, post the link in the comments, or if you have images, feel free to email me at nhllogos@gmail.com.

I'm looking forward to getting the next tournament started!

ECHL Tourney Starts Monday!

Just wanted to congratulate the Moose on their win one more time. But just because we're finished with the AHL, by no means are we finished with this blog. We've still got dozens of minor leagues to cover. And as promised, the ECHL will be next!

Beginning Monday you'll be able to start casting votes toward determining the ECHL's best logo. The new bracket can now be found in the sidebar, so I'll take this moment to briefly explain it. As always, the combinations were determined completely at random (thanks, Random.org).

Like the AHL tournament, since we have an odd number teams, we'll have to do a preliminary round. As far as differences, since there are 16 teams in one conference and 9 in the other, I had to randomize each side of the bracket just to even things out. Also worth noting is the fact that the first logo from each side to advance to the third round will get an automatic bye to the fourth round. That's just the way it had to be.

If you've got any questions about the bracket, feel free to leave them in the comments area or email me.

So, look for the first poll to be posted tomorrow at some point. It'll be the Columbia Inferno and Cincinnati Cyclones.

Apologies for the delay, but the voting schedule has now been posted in the sidebar. Check it out and make sure you come back every day to place your vote on our way to determining the AHL's best logo!

The Tournament Has Begun!

Man, I did not realize how much work it would be to launch a second tournament while I already have one going.

Anyway, the AHL Tournament of Logos has now started with the posting of the first poll. It's a little different from what you're used to in that we're starting with a preliminary round. Because of the odd number of teams in the AHL, I've decided this would be the easiest way to solve that problem. So the winner of the Stars/Monsters poll (posted today) will be the last logo placed in the bracket — facing the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The other big difference is that the first team to advance past the first round in each conference will win a bye for the second round. It may seem complicated, but it's the best thing I could figure out with seven polls in the first round on each side.

The most important thing is that each logo was placed in the bracket randomly!

So every team had an equal chance of getting placed in every position. You can see the bracket by clicking on the graphic at the top of the sidebar. The schedule will be in the sidebar just as soon as I can get it made. Hope you all enjoy the tournament!

AHL Tournament Starts Monday!

To the right you see the results of the poll where I asked you guys which league you wanted to see voted on first. Well you answered with a resounding "AHL"!

Out of 1809 votes, 1574 (87%) chose AHL, while 235 (13%) chose ECHL. This means the AHL Tournament of Logos will begin tomorrow!

One quick note about that, by the way. If you're familiar with NHLToL, I just wanted to point out that ToHL will be slightly different with regard to polls. Each poll will remain open for five days and, unlike NHLToL, new polls will be posted some time in the afternoon at ToHL — instead of early morning.

Hope that doesn't throw anybody off too much. But that's just how it is.

Also, the AHL bracket will be posted at some point tomorrow as well. All 29 teams will be involved. Since it's an odd number we'll begin with a preliminary round to get things down to even numbers. I'll describe more about how the tournament will work tomorrow.

Remember, spread the word! If nobody votes, there's no point to this site!
