Oil Shows 30th Year Patch
The Edmonton Oilers are showing off their new 30th anniversary shoulder patches at the Oil Country Rookie Tournament going on now.
A photo gallery on their official web site showed a picture of a bunch of white jerseys with a new patch.
If you're looking for it, the gallery is titled Rookie Camp: Day 3 and there's a direct link from the home page. I mentioned on Saturday that the Oilers put a simplified version of this logo at center ice for the coming season.
The reader who sent in this picture also mentioned that it was only on the right shoulder of the jerseys being used in the tournament.
I can't say for sure whether this logo will be on the home, road or third jerseys for the regular season. I also don't know whether this patch would be worn on both shoulders or just one. We won't have to wait long to find out though. Season starts in three weeks.

Not a bad looking patch- crisp design, nice colors- What's not to like?
And it adds something interesting to the shoulder of that jersey...
I find it interesting that they are not recognizing the years spent in the WHA
Those look nice. Now for the stripes and piping...
I see they're using white captain's letters on the white jerseys now. Not sure about that.
Kinda off topic for an Oilers post, but Chris, have you heard anything about a Ducks 15th season patch for this year?
Jason, If you're seeing the things sticking out from the pinnies in the rookie camp album, I think those are just Reebok logos.
Would be an interesting look though.
Nope, on the actual jerseys. From the game against Calgary: http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=MediaGalleryPlayer&galleryId=7103
Huh. I kinda like the idea. Looks like shit with the piping though.
i hope they release these to the public to purchase. I'd love to have one. Also, I'm pumped to see the vintage style 3rd jersey. Go Oil!!!
I really like the white C on that jersey. I hope they keep it.
