In 1973, two teams make slight changes. The Pittsburgh Penguins switch to a darker blue sweater while the Detroit Red Wings introduce the more polished winged wheel we know today.

It's crazy how many of the logos on this map are still basically the same as they are today. Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, and Philadelphia.
