Online Petitions Seek New Unis

With so many new sweaters being unveiled this season, you just had to know that at least a few would be rejected by a large group of fans. It's inevitable. So a few online petitions have cropped up hoping to rid certain teams of their new duds.

Right now, 65 San Jose Sharks fans have signed a petition to "return to the jersey design introduced in the 1998 season along with the return of the color grey and the elimination of the color orange."

But one Edmonton Oilers fan has gone so far as to start a blog in an attempt to "revive the Oiler jersey." Certainly worth a read if you feel strongly about the craptastic nature of the new Oil sweaters. (And it takes a lot for me to use a made up word, just so you know.)

Anyway, if you've started a petition or a blog or know of one that you'd like me to post here, feel free. It should go without saying that while I don't necessarily endorse them (the Oilers site excepted), I wouldn't mind sending folks along to help your jersey-related cause.

UPDATE (10/13 7:14 AM): By the way, Oilers fans now have their own online petition, if you feel like signing it.

Well, this is intresting. Something tells me we'll be seeing a petition to remove the "VANCOUVER" Wordmark from the Canucks Uniform Next. It Could Take the Current Uniform Down and either replace it with the current uniform Minus the Word mark or the Modernized Vintage Crest as the main logo and the V With Johnny Canuck's Head on Top as the Third Jersey, Now that I'd like to see.

Oh the memories. Good luck fellas. You'll need it.

Reebok will win out in the end. And the NHL could not care less about any of us.

As an Isles fan, I'm hoping they ditch this current pajama clown outfit and return to more or less the same design the team had for most of its history. A third jersey of this nature is likely coming next year, and hopefully it will be adopted as the main road and away jerseys following that....but it just can't happen fast enough for me.

I see why fans in SJ and EDM are bitter, they got awful make-overs this year.
I can't believe MIN adopted it's horrible Christmas third jersey as its new home one. That is hands down the worst jersey in the league.
And I agree with the complaints about Vancouver being written across the Canucks jerseys, who also now look like the Hartford Whalers.

Not at all, brother! You've got your own link in the sidebar so it appears on every page. Certainly I didn't intend to leave you out! I'll add your link to the post when I get a chance, though.

i agree with you chris Reebok could care less what people say there in it for the money

I also like the Oilers Jersey and would take that template over the one the Sharks got any day right now im just debating who got the worst with my friend he's a Canucks fan and because of the wordmark i think he did.

If you find a petition for San Jose tell me i already can't stand the jerseys for SJ it brings back horrible memories of the old Manitoba Moose jersey until they changed it to the one they use now

The new Sharks look is so much better than that god-awful grey, teal stripes-all-over-the-place thing they used to wear.

I realize San Jose is NOT a traditional hockey market, but the look betrays that fact.

The petition belongs in the garbage.
