Finally, a Buffalo logo where it doesn't contain.... a buffalo.
Honestly, I voted for the Flames here.
I respect the swords logo, but the red and black era leaves me cold. And the black hole seems so incomplete and empty behind those swords.
That said, recolored blue and gold it would still be infinitely superior to the slug.
But I dig the Horse.
Hmm, a Sabers logo actually featuring sabers vs. a Flames logo featuring a horse. Not a tough choice.
Horses are to Calgary what buffaloes are to Buffalo. Unimaginative designers always have these animals to fall back on, whether or not the team name has anything to do with them.
It's not as bad with Calgary as it is with Buffalo (at least the city isn't named "Horse") but it's wearing a bit thin.
And that's one ugly horse. Almost as bad as the blue flag. Calgary should be banned from using secondary logos.
Jacob, it's a pride thing. Yes, it's wearing thin now that all of our sports teams feature the same basic "streaking" buffalo as their logo.
But at least the Sabres had the crossed blades and the buffalo in their original design, and it so perfectly stated the city name and the team name all in one. In that context, I love the buffalo being used.
But all by its lonesome? Yeah, it's a bit tired. But that doesn't mean I want it retired in any logos in the future. I just want to see it used in a nice design.
i liked the red and black eraof buffalo but i still think that horse looks pretty sick
The horse is awful and a terrible logo and even though the sabres logo isn't complete it's a hell of alot better than the other sabres logos (i agree just because a cities name happens to be buffalo ddoesn't mean you need a buffalo in the logo)
