NHL 2k8 Apparently Has New Stars Jersey...

...so you can stop emailing me now! Thank you to the more than 25 people who emailed me saying they saw the Dallas Stars' new Rbk EDGE uniforms on an NHL 2k8 commercial that aired on TSN last night.

For what it's worth, the people who have emailed in have said the images we've seen already match what was in the commercial. However, fittingly enough, no one had a picture or screen shot to share so I'm only writing this post to let you know I got all your emails.

Also, I'll mention again that I really don't like writing about video games so if screen shots do surface in the next day or two I may not even post them. Simply put, video game renderings are not fully accurate images (in my opinion) to show actual jerseys. I prefer actual photographs.

(That's also why I haven't posted the Gagne statuette that's been floating around.)

Real live photos are coming directly from the Stars on Friday. I'll have them here.

I don't see what you actually have against video game renderings.

They are accurate, more accurate than any other type of leaked source. EA and 2K Sports were given exclusive looks at the new jerseys to put them in their game, and everything we've seen from EA (see Carolina and the leaked page with the blue-green Canucks jersey) turned out to be true, so there is simply no reason whatsoever to dismiss any leaks which come through 2K or EA Sports.

Not really. Normal people, like yourself and me, have the ability to make real looking jerseys when the game is on PC. I think this is what Chris is referring to when speaking about the "inaccuracies". Sure, the unis on the game look great, but that doesn't mean it's an actual, real, team concept.

I can understand if it was just all video game, but at the end of the commercial Turco was talking and going to hop over the boards and you can see the home colors.

Here's a screenshot from the commercial. Uni-Watch had it this morning. Looks real to me.

Your site is fantastic, by the way. Keep up the good work. One of my daily visits.

Chris, I understand how you don't like them, but they're proving to be accurate indications of what's coming. We didn't know it at the time, but we saw the Hurricanes' new duds months before their debut.

The advertisment also shows Marty Turco in the flesh wearing it.

It's him in the flesh wearing it. So, it's pretty much a guarantee.

And I love the site - I'm a daily visitor.

Why would the video game designers put inaccurate uniforms in the games? People would be less likely to purchase their game because it would seem amateurish and they are about profit.

what is wrong with these teams? a work mork is not a good logo, and a number on the front of the jersey does NOT look good. Dallas had one of the best jerseys in the league, now they have the worst by far.

Considering that NHL 2007 had the black and red sabres uniforms, I don't trust EA.
