Toivonens mask is the best i have ever seen. EPIC

I like the ears on Toivonen's mask, but I think Lalime's Marvin the Martian in a headdress is better.

Toivi copied this idea from Kellen Briggs, MN Gopher's goalie '04-'07

logojunkie... that is a nice one.

I believe Steve Shields had one like this when he played for the Bruins that would have been about from that time.

nice article here.

Thanks logojunkie & roccot. Toivonen's mask still gets my vote for being unusual, but the two examples you cite are both more successful executions of the same idea, I think.

Lalime's masks are great. The headdress is one of his nicest he has had.

Toivenin's is neat as well but I give the nod to Lalime. Can't beat Marvin the Martian!!

Lalime all the way. I think he has the best mask in the NHL and has for a few years now.
Lalime will always get my vote for this tourney.

...Toivonens is pretty good, but compared to Lalime, not as good. Also Hannu's mask isn't origional. Just a copy-cat.

Hey Chris,
I wanted to know if you could actually update the bracket for once.

huge points for originality from toivonen...that mask is too cool for school

I love Toivonen's. Usually a gold cage is an automatic win for me because I think they look so badass, but in this case Toivonen's just stands out way more

im not sure if this big enough but maybe the rebranding of the lightning is chris's big may 1 thing

anyways i voted lalime, love the headdress and seen the toivenen type mask a few times before

or maybe its the new format of the site? ..i think he mentioned something about that when those videos came out for the worst logo

..anyways i really like masks that goalies keep with them and transfer the design from team to team. like lalime's

Re: the may 1st big thing, you can see luongo in the bg... so i have no idea what it is.

i picked lalime, but overall preferred his mask when he was in ottawa.

Steve Sheilds originated the mask on a mask idea. Kellen Briggs followed suit. Toivonen's original mask on mask was a replica of the mask from slapshot.

However, the vote goes to Marvin in a Headdress. It is easily in the top three masks in the league.

^ very true

Toivonen's mask is kinda creative...However, I've always been a HUGE fan of Warner Bros. animation, so Marvin in the headdress gets my vote!

Apr 11 · 1:48 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterMichael

Toivonen's mask is actually a nod to a former Blue's goalie, Eddie Staniowski, who wore the old "Jason" mask with the Bluenote over the eyes.

... Marvin the Martian is played out.

I dislike both of these masks. Lalime's is bad, but Toivonen's is just terrible.
