Am I the only one who can never vote for the top name - the name appears but there is no way to vote for it.

Oct 21 · 4:57 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterCalvin

No, Calvin, I have that same problem, at least for Baltimore. Maybe it's because that one was disqualified.

Oct 21 · 5:39 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterKsy92003

Scratch that, Calvin, I have the problem for the others as well. Not sure why, but drop a note to Chris about it.

the washington sentinals was the team from the famous keanu resves movie "The Replacements". One of his finer pieces of work.

Personally I'm a little disappointed with the DC names. Power twice? Where were the animal choices?

Oct 21 · 8:42 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterJefferi

How do you decide which names make it to the voting? Seems like there were A LOT more submissions than are actually being voted on...

heck, 12 alliterations on Baltimore????

what's wrong with the world???

Oct 21 · 1:32 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterGuilherme

ahha jhabs7 i love that movie

and the carolina cougars was the name of the aba team in the 70's

How about when one name is disqualified, it is replaced by the next in line, just so the copy-cats don't take up all the room?

Wow, Chris, I have no idea what to say this time, lol. I thought my best name submitted, Atlanta Osprey, would at least make it. No complaining this time, I just find it funny now. And I guess Charlotte Queens was too...close to the nickname of the city.

Oct 21 · 6:51 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterLeafers LP

Hey Leafers LP. All this complaining — and let's face it, that's what it is — post after post. I really don't like doing this but I have to call you out on something.

You wrote a comment which said, among other things: "First the horrid "Steelcats", whatever those are, and now "Hellcats"!? What is this, girl's hockey!!!??? I mean, seriously, this is supposed to be a professional, men's hockey league. Chris, sometimes, I don't get why you accept names like that while there are much better names offered."

Are you honestly saying that Osprey and Queens would better represent rugged, manly hockey? You think you're laughing? lol

Anyway, yes, it was difficult deciding on which names to choose but I could only use so many and so far the number of people complaining is seriously outweighed by those not complaining and playing along.

There is no possible way to please every single person so I'm not even going to try. The best I can do is try to make the majority happy.

And again, sorry for calling you out, but you whine too much for me to leave it be. :)

One more thing. I never said anything about this league being either professional or exclusive to men. That's all.

Oct 21 · 8:34 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterChris

hey Chris, i don't know if i'm the only one, but i'm still having trouble voting on the 1st (or 2nd in some cases) team names available for the Southeast Division. Also noticed that in the "Name Rating" portion you still have South Division. Thanks :-)

oh and i heart alliterations (most of them anyway).

Oct 22 · 8:34 AM PDT | Unregistered Commenterasnowballschance

Sorry about that assumption of only men, for starters.

About my complaints, I think it's fair for me to voice how I feel about something, no? I wasn't offending anyone, just saying what I thought. A queen may be a woman, but what does that have to do with women on the team? And I never really expected that name to do much anyways, just filler, pretty much. When I mentioned women, it was more along the lines of all the girls hockey teams where I live are all related to either a panther or cougar, both being cats. Which is why I mentioned Hellcats and Steelcats.

And I know I don't submit the best names, so I can't really defend anything I've done, but what I mean by "Chris, sometimes, I don't get why you accept names like that while there are much better names offered." is that I read some names that I think are solid candidates, and then don't see them in the voting, so I wonder what your decision came down to.

Anyways, now that names are over and done with, other than voting, I think it's best if I leave it at this.

Sorry, and hope the rest of this idea goes well.

just a question: where's Philadelphia? did I missed it? I really don't remember it anywhere on the process...

I'm not complaining, it's my fault I forgot it, hehe

it's just that I thought about Philly nicknames (Rocky related, hehe, like Stallions or something), but I really don't remember the city

Oct 22 · 1:53 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterGuilherme

There aren't any animals in Washington. We have fancy buildings and Japanese trees.

Oct 22 · 3:04 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterOgre

The Carolina Cougars were an ABA team in the late 60's, early 70's. Would this disqualify them as a name?

Oct 22 · 3:06 PM PDT | Unregistered Commenterwiw06

@ Guilherme, Philly got 6% of the total votes for the Northeast Division.
