Ducks Confirm No Third
10 Comments Monday · Aug 4 · 2008 | 8:35 AM PDT
You know, with all the talk about which teams are getting third jerseys this season, I guess it makes sense to mention confirmation of those that aren't.
According to Curtis Zupke from the OC Register, Ducks management says they will be one of handful without one. It's funny because, 1) they could use one, and 2) history shows Anaheim has been one of the most prolific clubs in terms of thirds. A quick look back at the last 12 years turns up four different alternate sweaters for the Ducks alone.

It's worth noting the gradual increase in quality here over the years from something that should never have been worn in an NHL game to something that I wish was still around.

ya i remember i thot those 2nd and 3rd third jerseys were really nice ... even the one with the anaheim font looks good.. what could possibly cause them to NOT want a third jersey??
They should bring back that last one in orange instead of purple. That would look pretty sharp.
Well from one point of view you could say that this is a completly different team. New ownership (Mickey Mouse has left the building!) and the Team name has changed, so maybe the new ownership group is just getting away from the craziness that was teh disney ownership.
yeah i thought the black Ducks third was awesome. It had the slightest hint of purple which made them really stand out for me.
That last jersey with Gold instead of silver and Orange instead of Purple would be sharp, and have an AD instead of MD
That'd be too similar to their current home jersey. If they made a third, it'd probably be orange or gold.
Gold on orange? I'm glad that never happened.
That last Ducks third (which they wore at home for the playoffs that year) is one of the classiest "new" sweater designs that have come out in the last 20 years. Definitely one that could stand a revisit.
I liked their black and purple third. That's the best that team has ever looked. I know that's not saying much, but it's still really good.
I don't think they'll go back to the green & purple jerseys. They're not the "Disney Ducks" anymore, it's a different team. Not a surprise that they won't have a third jersey.
