Sharks Unveil Third Jersey!

The San Jose Sharks became the 13th team to unveil an alternate jersey for the 2008-09. They did so by releasing pictures and a short video on their web site, describing in detail the Sharks' uniform history. I wish every team did one of these. So much better than the Icethetics Live Chat history lessons.

Nothing surprising for Icethetics regulars. We've had pictures for a few days now. It's black with the full-body Sharks logo on the front (the first time the Sharks have used anything but their primary logo on a sweater). It's got the SJ-fin logo on the shoulders and "Deep Pacific Teal" and white stripes around the elbows.

What'd I say?! What'd I say? I said 'Once they throw some numbers on there, it's going to look CLEEEEEAAAANNNN ". And it does. Once you add some digits, they don't look like pajamas, and they don't look too gaudy or too plain.
I'll gladly pay a few extra thousand dollars ( that's what RBK charges, right?) to get mine Thornton-ized. because once I do, ( bow chikka bowowww) Heeeeelllllooooooo, laddiiieeeeees.
I actually like these a lot better than I thought I would after seeing the leaks. Having the large white numbers with the teal trim helps to balance out the black and makes them look a lot less like a practice jersey than they did in the leaks.
great decision to remove the orange (or 99% of it). it looks terrible in their regular jerseys.
On NHL Live on the NHL Network, the announcers got sent the new Sharks third jersey as a "gift" or something. It repeats at 5pm eastern on the NHL network, not that exciting, but if you wanted to see it on a live human.
The full-body Shark should been their primary from the start... bad ass logo!
I also would've liked to have seen black as their regular home color, but with everyone going with black these days, the aqua stands out as something different, which is cool as well.

I picked mine up today at 10. It really does look great. The color, the logo, the laces. Everything on it is done just right. Now to get it customized.
I really like that full body shark.. those are going to look sharp on ice.

They look very intimidated just like the last black jersey. When I have the money I will be picking one up. Now the question is: Which fabulous Sharks player do I want on it?
They did a good job, but I find it somewhat cluttered. Numbers on the front and side and the alternate logo... just too much going on. I would have much preferred it if they left out the numbers on the sleeves and just left the front.

those are some sharp lookin jerseys! SJ always had a nice black jersey, but if they could get there regulars in line, they'd probably be the best looking team in the league. right now, that distinction belongs to vancouver, those jerseys have one me over with the addition of the third.
Seeing this since the leak, it looks fantastic. Clean, simple, and still enough color to make it great.

They would look a lot better without the number on the chest. Just a little too much clutter.
I think it would be a nice touch with the 1 line of piping on the front and back.
Yeah i agree that the teal piping we thought was on it would have really looked nice.
They look way better with numbering on them. I wouldn't call them "classic" like Roenick did though. Classic hockey jerseys have stripes on the bottom, which is the only thing this jersey is missing. I would have liked to see two small stripes there like Dallas has done to their jerseys.
Obviously, this is the only 3rd jersey 'Hammie' has seen. It's nice and clean looking but nowhere near the best 3rd in the league. Best 3rd in the league is between the Flyers, Sabres and Oilers.
great looking logo, but colour me unimpressed otherwise. Maybe the most boring shoulder patch in the league, and with the "C" or an "A" doubled with all the letters on the side and on the front, it looks very busy and looks like a little kid stuck all of his magnetic letters and numbers all over the jersey. Too busy when customized, too plain when blank.
ENOUGH with numbers on the front! I absolutely hate that. The jersey is nice but that number is f'ing retarded. Roenick talks about being simple and clean...guess what? The front is busy with that number. Take it off and you have an A+, now...I'd give it a B.
Hideous color, nice design. Some teal & white bottom striping would help.

I hate the numbers on the front of the jersey and the SJ logo on the shoulders. Way too many letter and numbers going on with the numbers on the arms too. They look good other than that, but it totally ruins the clean feel of it. Why is everyone putting numbers on the front? It never looks good.
Ok, its much better than what the leaked images reveled it to be, but I don't think thats going to work with the SENS 3rd jersey.
Roenick rules, and the orange looks perfect in the regular jerseys, it's a perfect contrast, something to keep away from bland ordinary everyone else. Those black ones though are just sexy.
I like it it's not your typical boring black jersey the SJ on the shoulders are pretty cool

I loved the orange, so i'm sad to see it go. And the shoulder logos look a little big. But otherwise a great jersey.
Pretty bland, yet with plenty of clutter in white. The shoulder patches are okay, but the laces and full-shark have no place on the front of a Sharks sweater.

Its Black, but I have to admit, its NICE!!!!!! They definalty need to make this the primary jersey, much nicer than the one with all that unessary orange.
This is the best Sharks jersey of the Rbk line, but that's not saying much. The SJ on the shoulders need to go and the tiny fin logos should be by themselves, only bigger of course. Also, the front numbers are sooo annoying, I hate Buffalo even more for starting that trend. If they were to lose the front numbers and have the fin logos all by themselves on the shoulders this would be a classic.
The positive is they lost the orange highlights, thank GOD!
Now, if only the Sharks marketing dept would repair the home and aways by bringing back the color gray and losing the orange then those would look halfway decent.
The full body shark looks fantastic, I wouldn't mind seeing that instead of the current primary logo on the home and aways as well.
Now, see, this is how they should have made the home jersey to begin with. I think even if they switched out the white stripes with orange, it would have looked pretty cool. Do a mirror jersey in white with teal lettering and numbers, and replace those nightmares they have now. It's a shame they had to wait till the 3rd jersey to get it right. I will say, tho, that the Sabres 3rd is the best one so far.
Team Teal looks black and white from a distance on television. Very disappointing.
I know I will be getting one...best of the new 3rd's, hands-down!!

My wife and I tried it on at the Sharks store saturday night. She looked at me and said "You look great!". She tried hers on and she looked hot! We each bought one on the spot. Personalized they look even better although I would have left the numbers off the front. I think there the best looking 3rd jersey released so far this year.
