First, the San Jose Sharks will unveil their new BlackArmor third jersey Friday morning at 10 AM on their web site. That's local time meaning it'll be 1 PM in the east if I've done my math right — though the countdown on their site seems to be indicating a 5 AM PST release. I'm not holding my breath.
I'll snag pictures from their web site tomorrow and have them for you here. But you've actually already seen this new black alternate sweater a few different times now thanks to the oodles of leaks.
Glad this isn't a ship.
In other news, the Boston Bruins sent out an email to fans informing them that Black Friday will be Blackout Friday at the Garden. We hope they don't mean an actual blackout, though this wouldn't be the worst time of year for that at a hockey game.
Seriously though, they want you to wear your black Bruins jerseys because the Bruins will be wearing black jerseys. Wait a minute, how is that— nevermind. Yes, the black third jersey we thought was the first to be unveiled way back when will actually turn out to be the last. I know, ironic.
I'm hearing Monday, November 24 for this unveiling but I'm not sure we have confirmation. It does appear that the new sweater will make it's official debut on Friday, November 28.

The countdown says it will be released at 8:00 AM. The news release from October says it will be released at 10 AM on the website. The release "flier" (that is supposed to be the pre-order form) just says "Join us at the Sharks store on Friday, November 21".
I'm planning on heading to the 11/28 Bruins game so I'll make sure to pick up some photos.
After what happened in the 1990 Stanley Cup Finals vs. the Oilers, it's pretty surprising that the Bruins would us the term "blackout".
Can't wait until all the jerseys are "officially" unveiled. We already know what they look like so why can't they release the code to unlock the jerseys in NHL 09? Looks like I'll be waiting until next Saturday though. :(

How much nicer is the black one (left) with the "O" in the middle?!?!?!
Would have been awesome to see that jersey being worn. It is a real shame that this had to be such a big surprise and the fans could not have any input in it.
The Sharks website has a drawing of their new 3rd jersey on the front page. No actual pics yet.

I think the Sharks went a little conservative on this design, and what would've been really neat to see would be to have the original template from 1991 but updated, as a tribute to the team's origins. Another idea would have been to use Oakland Seals jerseys as a tribute to Bay Area hockey.
Welp, the Sharks unveiled this morning on their website, and I must say, what a bunch of cheap bastards. Sure, they had the sweet video recalling the history of the Sharks' jerseys, but not one single photo of a player in full pads sporting the new duds. All we see is jeremy Roenick hocking it while Patrick marleau looks like the 'have you seen my baseball' kid from "There's Something About Mary".
Way to wow us, Sharks. lol
i hope the code comes out soon...i wanna use the sabres 3rd and winter classic jersey....i hope boston unveils on monday and not friday....

The jerseys have been released on the Sharks website. They have a new splash screen for the site that features the jersey and it's premiere tonight.

just a side note...according to NHL.com, the kings arent wearing their jerseys for the game...it says they are going to debut them during a special ceremony during the 1st intermission...but the kings website says they will be unveiled at 7:34p meaning they would wear them....
