Third Jersey Weekend

It kicked off this morning with the launch of the Sharks' new alternate sweater and will end Monday morning when the Bruins unveil theirs. So here's some things to you need to know to stay on top of the latest news.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have a new splash page on their web site with the first official indications that we'll be seeing a blue jersey on Sunday. With the primary logo on the shoulder, this could lead casual fans to wonder what's on the front.
If you're visiting Icethetics for the first time, I hate to disappoint you, but it's going to say BOLTS. I suggest checking out pictures in the Lightning's gallery at Third Jersey Central.
I'm psyched about the blue sweater, I just wish they could've used the secondary logo on the front. That's all I'm saying.
The folks at LetsGoKings.com are keeping us busy with Los Angeles Kings third jersey news. LGK's Carla Muller sat down with the designer of the Kings new alternate sweater, Todd Howk. It's really interesting to read about the process of creating this rather simple uniform. I highly recommend a read.
Now once you've done that, if you're just itching to see how the players will look on the ice and you really can't wait until tomorrow night when they face the Avs, check this out.

Now obviously, this is just concept art. The Kings haven't actually wore these in a game yet. It's just more of a preview than anything. And a rather good one. You almost can't tell it's fake.
But anyway, great job going on over there at LetsGoKings.com. They serve Kings fans well from what I can tell.

Last thing. I just wanted to share a shot of the St. Louis Blues in their new third sweaters. They made their debut tonight against the Ducks.
Those jerseys really look great. Seeing them in action, the only thing I'd change is the shade of blue. I really like the royal blue used on their home uniforms. I feel like these would've looked so much better without the really dark blue.

The Bolts jersey looks soo good from that angle.
those king jerseys are god awful that logo just doesnt work in my opinion plus the just black and grey its so bland its like the raiders add some of that purple or something they are the worst or 2nd worst to the thrashers
I agree with Chris. The Blues third jerseys look great; if I could change anything, I would make them a lighter shade of blue as well.
That said, they still are a 500% improvement over what they wear normally (no random XFL-ish piping, panels or any other crap from RBK hell). They look like a real team again. No coincidence this was the first Blues game I have watched in a while.
My only complaint about the Blues is that I'd have liked a more traditional pants design to match the traditional jersey design. Either a straight stripe or none at all. It's not a big thing, but little details like that make a difference.
Good stuff over all, though.
The Blues thirds are great...except for the shoulder patch. If they have the main logo integrated into the front, shouldn't there be a secondary logo on the shoulder? Didn't they used to have a bugle?
I think it's such a shame that the Blues had to debut there jersey against a team with such garish uniforms. I really was looking forward to hoe they'd look in action, and they look great, just unfortunate we had to see the Ducks uninspired look at the same time. Can't wait to see the Kings jersey in action tonight. (that concept preview makes it look sooooo good)
As a Blues fan, I like the dark blue. I think the point of the 3rd jersey is to have a completely alternate look which the Blues have done a phenomenal job at doing.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Bolts jerseys as well.
Great teaser, great angle, and would be a great jersey without Bolts written across it.
that promo thing for the bolts has to be one of the coolest looking ones ever...and as for that kings logo...i thought it was a pic from a game...whoever did that did an amazing job...i bet if you show that pic to someone who doesnt regularly visit this site, they would think its real....
Yes, I also think it is too bad Tampa didn't use their secondary Chris. But Bolts is fine, boring, but fine. The jersey itself looks great in every sense though. As for that Kings concept, it looks incredibly realistic, but I am nevertheless going to reserve judgement until I actually see the jersey in live action. I really can't wait for third jersey weekend, it is going to be fun (and sad) to see the end of the alternate sweater madness!
Wow, the Kings' third looks awesome on the ice. I realize it is only photoshop, but if they look anything like that for real, I'll be a big fan. Also, what does the Lightning's secondary logo look like? I don't think I have ever seen it.
Good point about the Blues pants, Jason. They should fix that stripe.
I disagree Chris, I really like the Navy Blue, it makes it look more unique and more differentiated from their current home unis
I was glad I got to go to the Blues game last night and see the uniforms. As good as they look in the pictures they looked even better in person. St.Louis had a very warm reception with the new jerseys. A lot of people in the crowd had bought and were wearing them, I'm getting an authentic tomorrow afternoon :)
I think the Blue note on the shoulder isn't too bad, if the Bugle was redone I might have considered it as the shoulder logo. As for the pants, they were kind of limited to what they could have worn I think. They changed the jersey and socks which is good enough for me.
I'm sure I'll be watching the Lightning game tomorrow to see em, have been waiting a while for that one as well. As for the Kings their jersey is obviously a Gretzky inspired jersey, I first started liking hockey in the early 90s so this third is to my liking.
I agree, that is great photoshop work.
It may be the end of the alternate jersey madness, but only for this year. Remember, there has already been teams like the flames confirming a jersey for next year and since the two year jersey cotract (or whatever it was called) is up at the end of this season, teams can change the look of their home and away jerseys if they want.....hopefully the Oilers add some more detail or something.....
blues jersey is nice. I hate the Blues, but i like this jersey. The Lighting jersey isnt that bad, really, probably my favourite wordmark jersey. As for the Kings, that just is not good.
