Senators Unveil Third Jersey!
It appears the Ottawa Senators have unveiled their new black third jersey. The splash page now features full photos of three Sens players in their new threads. The jerseys match our previous leaks from this week.
They're black with a unique red and white striping pattern under the arms and down the sides. And they look killer.
Below you can see Chris Phillips, Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley.
Looks like they'll even have new pants to go with the new sweaters. Not sure if they'll have different socks, though. This picture doesn't show that, obviously.
The Sens have already hit the ice in these uniforms against the Rangers this afternoon. I'll have game action pictures when I can.

I don't know about anybody else, but after seeing this in action, the Senators' third jersey has moved way up on my list. Alternate jerseys are now 13-10 on the season with the Sens' win over the Rangers. Three more third jersey games to go tonight

You know what's funny? In this picture with the line of players on the bench, the elbow stripes almost give the illusion of the barberpole stripes from the old days.
Even with SENS plastered all over the front, I'm a big fan of this jersey.

I somehow missed something in my previous posts. The Senators have set up a page on their web site dedicated to their new third jersey. You can see a photo gallery and a 360-degree view of the uniform. They have an order form, wallpapers for your computer, and a video which you can see below.
Seems like they're proud of this jersey. And with good reason.

I'm not a big fan of the 'SENS' on the front. The stripes on the jersey are wicked, but I don't like 'SENS' written on the front, just like I don't like 'BOLTS' on the Lightning's jersey. Team nicknames/shortforms should not be on jerseys.
there are some things that are good with this jersey, but the entire thing is marred by a few terrible things.
good: the hemline stripes - they're small, but they make a big splash. i like
good: the curving vertical stripes - unexpected from me, but i kinda like what they're doing there. it's completely new, yet not overbearing.
bad: the mass of red in the underarms - it's blinding and takes away from everything else. two steps forward, massive long jump backwards
good: the outer sleeve stripes - if only these went the whole way around and were the only stripes on the sleeves...if only if only
bad: apron piping from collar to underarm - i hate these. is it really necessary? really?
good: shoulder logos - they work with the jersey well
bad: shoulder numbers in relation to the sleeve numbers - the commentators can't be happy about that. looks like a tough read for them
bad: wordmark - you've all been waiting for me to mention it i'm sure. if you're unable to read, it looks pretty cool, even if it does leave a ton of empty space below it. but for those of us who can read, it's a terrible, terrible joke for all of hockey. nicknames do not belong on a jersey!
overall: with each point weighted according to how good or bad they are, this jersey was kinda bad, with the wordmark, it's horrible. D+
ottawa has new socks with their new uni....they are black with the same horizontal stripping as the sleeves except it wraps all the way around
I'm sure this jersey is going to take a lot of flak for its "football/basketball-like" appearance. It is obvious they meshed a lot of people's ideas into the jersey as stated by the management. I think it looks sharp but will take time to grow for a lot of the die-hard Senators fans.
they have new socks. They are more traditional than the ones they usually wear.
And like most all black jersey's these look awful on the ice. the red does not show up well on TV from all angles and when the puck goes at the net, well, you lose it.
FAIL. Even the commentator on Sportsnet didn't like the new look!

Those look really good, better than their previous Black jerseys. Does it have the new version of the circular senator logo on the right shoulder, and the new senator head on the left? Thats sorta odd, but otherwise looks good.
They look better on the players then the original leak, still they could've done so much better.
With the gloves, they look like distant relatives to spider man.

As far as uniforms go... those are actually somewhat intimidating. I bet they are going to look awesome on the ice.

As a leafs fan in ottawa, I HATE the sens. That aside, I really like the pattern and striping of these jerseys (nicest black thirds imo). However, I still think the "sens" on the chest is ridiculous, and using either their 2d logo or the old secondary logo (with the peace tower and the maple leaf) would have made them exceptional.
Still a meh for me. In the middle for 3rd jerseys, considering we have so many great 3rds.
And those jerseys seemed to help the Sens today. Ended up breaking a 6-game losing streak while wearing their 3rds.

They actually look pretty killer. I still think they should've used the new version of their old logo instead of "SENS" on the front (sorry, but a liitle dumb IMO), but I'll bet they look pretty good on the ice.
As Chris noted, there is "barber pole" striping on this sweater, and it is a nice nod to the history of hockey sweaters in Ottawa. Overall, they are not bad, but they could have been so much better. I would have preferred to even see the lettering - both placement and text - to be like the Bolt's 3rds - those are nice.
I do like that retro element of the barberpole stripes! This one is going to sell alot.
As a senators fan, i hated them when i first saw them... but seeeing them in person, wow, pretty sharp, still dont like the "sens" in the front but its pretty sick
Awful jerseys. A big mess motionless, a bigger mess while moving. A team has never made a jersey work where there is horizontal stripes blended in with curved ones. It is a complete mess which just happens to look a lot worse while in motion. How anyone could like these is beyond me.
The design is very nice - maybe the Sens best ever...but the lame "Sens" wordmark, is, well, very lame. If they had gone with their "O" lgo, I'd say these are the top thirds.
Striping is great. Logo isn't. I also noticed that the arms looked like a classical idea jersey. Overall, the striping is awesome on these jerseys.
I just noticed that Leafs are wearing 3rds tonight, but i dont see it in sidebar.
They are so so. Not terrible, but not great. Certainly not up there on my list of third jerseys. I have actually been really impressed with most of them, but this one disappointed me.
I was at that game, and I have to say the thirds looked better on the players than they did in the leaks. Mind you, the wordmark on the front crowds the chest up too much. An actual logo would have worked better.

what's up with so many teams having black jerseys? wonder how many teams have a black jersey..
The logo and shirt design are pretty solid and far better than what was leaked a few months ago, but there are two things that drive me crazy about it.
1) Black...Why are half of the third jerseys black. (At least with this one Ottawa has a claim that their actual colors are red, black and white)
2) The use of slang...Would it be okay for the Canadiens to come out with a HAS jersey or the Leafs to come out with a BUDS jersey? No, so why a SENS...it's jsut ridiculous.

I agree with ctoverdrive. The nicknames are horrible on a jersey. Both Tampa and Ottawa have great designs/striping but the nickname word mark just ruins the jersey!

i dont get the whole nickname/wordmark as a symbol, especialy on the captain and assistant captain jerseys

Actually, the Sens jerseys look awesome. They should just put their regular logo on the front, and bam! Back to having one of the coolest jerseys in the league. Maybe that jersey will help the team play better! :) Or maybe they should get back the scapegoat, Ray Emery. I hear he is playing well!!
I am a Leafs fan and i must say, I think these jerseys have the best striping ive seen in a long time...very nice...but come on...couldnt have put your new secondary logo on it? like woulda been smart...but too smart for them...good job on the kickass stripes tho.

These jerseys looked really sharp and crisp on the television and in the pictures, The Wordmark is a big disappointment and could easily be replaced withsomething else.

Why not put SENS on it? Who cares if the Habs don't have HABS on theirs.The Sens are still trying to get an identity and I think they are going in the right direction. They don't have to be identical to the other thirds, the sens made a good job designing these and I am a big fan of the new jerseys.
I met get bashed by Ottawa fans ( and maybe deservedly so), but I think the jerseys are pretty sweet aside from the SNES logo. I was a fan, like many other people, of the BIG O jersey. But if The SNES lol wanted to modernize their unis while paying tribute to the past, using this template with the BIG O logo fornt and center would've been a stroke of genius IMO.
Oh well. Super Mario World just got a little more evil.
to be honest...im kinda surprised that they didnt put the c or a on the opposite side like detroit and phoenix....it seems kinda bunched in my opinion where it is
Dont like it all, the current home on is awesome, save for the execption it looks like Pittsburgh, at lest they didnt go with that ugyl gold they used a few years back on thier thirds.
Still not big on them but I think I like them better than their primary set, save for the text/logo thing.

I think it is alright. Pretty cool, yet crazy striping job, but I am not a huge fan of wordmarks. "Sens " is actually better than the most, but I would have liked to have seen the 2D or the "O" logos. The underarms colouring is pretty bad in my opinion, and I am a strong believer that nicknames should never be used on jerseys. Overall it is a good-bad jersey for me, that could have had much more done properly.
Kinda look strange in these pics but... in the game they are WICKED! I just LOVE the barber pole-ish elbows. Its good to see the "SENS" Back in black
I think the Sens had the correct idea. I am a die-hard Sens fan and I think the Jersey is a Dud. However, considering how awful their normal jerseys are, this is at least at par and may be an improvement. All that needed to change was the wording. If it said Senators across on the upword angle in a written script it may have been ok, if not great. Anyone wondering what that looks like take a look a Halifax Mooseheads third and fourth jerseys. Underneath the TORS end of the Jersey I would have put the O patch on their normal jerseys and had the Peace Tower/Maple Leaf logo on the shoulders.
