Cam Ward Gets A New Mask

I really like the mask he's been wearing this season, but this isn't bad either. I like the whole Cape Fear theme. And what shooter wouldn't get a little freaked by the creepy eyes staring back at him?

Is the lighthouse on the side of the mask the same as the one posted as a concept for the Islanders? I couldn't find a link, but I seem to remember seeing something similar on an Islanders concept.

Goalies who change their masks every year are stupid. guys like CuJo, Lalime, Belfour etc. are recongnised by their masks.
Is it me, or does Ward change his mask every week. Not that I'm complaining. I dig on goalie mask art. But Ward tends to have some of more detailed, yet crappier looking masks.
I love this. I like the Hatteras lighthouse, the wrecked ship, the wright brothers, it's a NC tribute mask.
Pretty nice new design for Ward's mask. Staring into those eyes for too long really creeps me out though...
Has anyone noticed all the Movie inspired maskes latley. i wonder if its and indorsment of some kind.
Atleast it's better than the Saw masks the Lightning are using.

I liked his Pirate Mask better. It was nicely painted and not so "air brushy". Personal taste though.
Ward can't get a good mask design for the Hurricanes. It's kind of sad, really.

Pretty neat mask on Ward's part...and a nice touch with the Wright Bros, Cape Hatteras, and the wreck.
Kinda ironic seeing I picked up the THN special mag on goalie masks today at Borders after voting. Lots of good stuff in there.

hey demondg1, I read in an article about Ward that the reason he always has new masks is because his college coach wouldn't allow him to paint his mask when he played college so now that he can get his masks painted he likes doing it as much as he can.
there does seem to be alot of movie inspired masks...my only problem with that is it may lead to ads....could you imagine goalies selling ad space on their masks???

Very nice new mask. I like how the eyes are staring strait ahead at the shooter.
It was his junior coach that prohibited from doing it.
I like this mask, it has a lot of similar elements to the one I really liked- the Battleship, lighthouse and plane one from last season that broke and got auctioned off. And the eyes are creepy.
And while I like the one he's already got this season, as long as it's not the Nickelback mask I'm fine with it.

Brent Sutter, his coach in Red Deer, wouldn't allow any of his goalies to have a painted mask. Wardo just wore a black Itech while there.
I prefer the previous one. This one looks too crowded.

If movies are starting to use masks for advertising, I like it better than any sponsors appearing on the jerseys.
This masks ok, but I think there's too many separated images. It would look better without the images on the side and just a nice clean-looking design instead. Maybe he'll realize that changing your mask twice in two months makes people ask the question, "Hey, who's in net for Carolina?" more frequently.
