Saturday · Feb 21 · 2009 | 12:08 AM PSTHey guys, just wanted to check in. Haven't made any updates lately because there hasn't been much to update. There are some interesting minor league jerseys that hit the ice recently. I'll try to get pictures posted this weekend.
Thanks to those of you who have emailed in. As ever, Icethetics continues to be a work in progress and now that I find I have limited time to run it, for a while it's not going to be what it once was. For those of you who don't work in television you may not understand why, but the next three months are going to be an incredibly busy time for me and you may hear from me even less than you have lately.
However, you guys should know I'm planning a sort of re-launch for the summer. We'll be following the second round of third jerseys as well as launching the uniform and logo history section (fingers crossed), among other things.
In the meantime, should anything big come up, I'll be here to write about it. Thanks for your patience.

No comments yet, ouch. I've been reading since the early days of NHLToL and I still visit every day. Many fans seemed to have gone missing, but the true supporters are still here, Chris. We understand that you are doing this in your spare time, without pay, and have a very busy life. We respect all you do.

We all appreciate the work you put into this site, especially us that have been here since the days of NHLToL. We also understand you have a life aside from icethetics and that there hasn't been much news lately concerning jerseys.
However, a lot of us miss the concepts and the ICEHL. This doesn't need to be a big thing but maybe just a few concepts a week...I know that I for one would appreciate it

Fellow TV guy here Chris. Let's just say that times have been turbulent lately at least, but I know that when it rains it pours, so like the guys above have said, it's definitely understandable.
There really hasn't been much to talk about lately anyway, which is understandable when it's a logo/jersey site trying to make it's way through the middle of the season.
However, for the logo nuts around here, the NHL has now released the 2009 Playoffs logos. I've uploaded a PDF to my site (1.7mb). Chris, obviously feel free to post about it

Sorry Steve... not to steal the spotlight or anything but Chris has actually posted about the new playoff logo, but what you gave is a lot better look at it.
They even posted the pantone codes on there... its going to get me all hot and bothered.

this site is going to go relatively update-free until summer? look, i know you're busy, that's why myself and i'm sure a number of other readers have offered our help in maintaining the site. apparently, you don't plan on accepting that assistance.
are we supposed to stop coming back here until you have something for us?
a number of fans must have given up already, considering that this is only the 9th comment on this. I'll be honest, I'm about to join them.
I've been vocal on this site, I've been critical when I thought something should be changed, or done, and never without reason or without being constructive. I've been a big fan, an avid commenter, and a constant reader since the early NHLToL days when you went head to head with logos that included the category "what logo would win in a real-life fight?"
with IceHL, you have your work cut out for you. That was a project I suggested early on (I don't know that I was the first, and therefore won't claim that I was), and pushed for through this point. It has remained completely unfinished...and i was looking forward to the jersey concepts, where I was really going to flex my creative muscles.
but all of this goes wasted. I'll offer suggestions as long as there's enthusiasm, i'll defend someone as long as they try. Chris, you've hit the point where you don't seem to care anymore, you don't want help, you don't want to try, you just want to put the site on total hold until you decide you're interested again, which might be never. You get quoted on NHL.com and it's been downhill ever since. Right now, I can't bring myself to defend you anymore...though i might not have to, it seems all the complainers have moved on to better things.
i'll be checking in occasionally, hoping for a change, hoping that you'll take some initiative and work to fix the problems (by getting some help, perhaps?) and maybe i'll come back to your camp when you care a little more. sorry.

Wow, people are pretty upset over the lack of updates! Well, there's not much you can do when new logo or jersey designs don't happen in the middle of the season. And as far as concepts go, there's really not a lot of talented people submitting them. Out of sheer boredom and the lack of updates here, I created my own site:

Chris, don't let the haters take away from the greatness you have created in Icethetics. You kept it going strong for about two years and that's an acomplishment. I think people just got spoiled and came to expect multiple updates every day.
Taco Bill, you're plain wrong. if we have the time to constantly check this site, i know i do it at least once a day, chris can make a post every day too. im not asking for anything big, just one a day. i have been emailing chris constantly about luongo's new mask, which is pretty sweet, and what do i get. i big fat NOTHING!
I had no idea Luongo had a new mask. I looked it up and its pretty sharp looking... except the way its designed, Luongo's face is emerging from Johnny Canuck's crotch. Any Vancouver fans have any insight behind this little oddity?
Since when was this a third jersey news site? After lie after lie what makes you think we believe you? Anyone know of any other sites like this that do not suck?
WAAAHH!!! The internet doesn't give me what I want. Yeah, it irritates me as well, but I'm not going to whine about.
This is ridiculous. This site was meant for fans of hockey to come together and share concepts and discuss what new is happening with the graphic art in the pro leagues. I want to have a dedicated team running a site like this, not one person who will go on and off from caring about the fan base and not. If you want to be a part of a dedicated team of at least 3 people running a hockey art website then come visit http://hockeyvisual.blogspot.com/ . I started it and I want more people to help out and post with me on it so that any time one person wants to takes a break like chris always does, there will not be a lack of updates because there are many others still in charge to post.
If anyone would like to see me create something for them or would like some input on what you have created just send me a message. I apparently have time since the IHA and IceHL have folded like a cheap tent.

I dont know i have send Chris concepts at least 3 times sence december and could have lasted or filled at least 2 Concepts posts. I love what the guy has done and i am still greatful for having been part of this. but Nothing for 3 months in terms of concepts. I check at least once everyday. in hopes we get somthing. Look at all the time and hard work all thiese people have put in to the ICEHL and the IHA projects. No one knows anything about the IHA or has seen those logo out anywhere. where did they go? and the ICEHL is just there doing nothing. As for Posting new logos. i have started posting my stuff on.

I'm with you Mike. I had some logos from the IHA (didn't get any in for the ICEHL because my wrist was broken and illustrator is hard to use with a full arm cast) and I too am wondering where that has gone to.
Also I've sent multiple concepts in to Chris, one that was sent into him in August which he responded saying that he would post it after the third jersey news which never happened, and never got any other replies but that one which was back when he was more involved.
I going to second that it seems Chris has turned this into more or less a jersey/news site. I miss the concept posts and the ICEHL... please bring them back Chris!!
You could make it easier on yourself Chris and get someone to do concept posts and what not... I would be more than willing to do that too, and maybe it could be a thing where you forward the concepts to me, i can make the graphics and whatever then post it up here .
Don't want to sound like I'm complaining but just want to offer my opinion and I mostly don't want to see this site go... it's a great thing Chris has going but it's obviously slipping.
