Team Canada Jerseys Unveiled!
Not that it should surprise anyone, but Team Canada's 2010 Olympics jerseys were officially unveiled today — confirming the leaked pictures first posted on Icethetics last week.
Hockey Canada has gone all out with an entire section of its web site dedicated to the new sweaters. Click here to see it. You can see a detailed version of the crest, download desktop wallpapers featuring the jerseys and the new crest, and even check out past Team Canada jerseys.
The official photos of the jerseys provided on HockeyCanada.ca give us a much better look at the overall design.
Personally, I think I favor the white one for its attention to contrast. Notice how you can clearly make out the leaf crest.
And, of course, for your viewing pleasure, the new crest in all its glory.
One more thing. At the risk of coming off as self-serving, I'd like to encourage Icethetics fans who plan to purchase either or both of these jerseys to show your support by clicking on the IceJerseys.com link and buying from them. They've got great prices and the small amount of money Icethetics makes from ads goes a long way to keeping the site running. And hey, just remember where you saw this jersey first, right?
Enough with that.
Team USA also unveiled their 2010 Olympic jerseys today but I have yet to come across any decent photos worth sharing on the blog. In the meantime, there are a couple of low-quality cell phone pictures I posted on Twitter. When better photos are available, I'll have them here.

Any better pics of the USA jerseys yet rather than the phone ones?
Looks nice, I'm assuming the hockey canada fed logo was just for the leaked prototype? It doesn't appear on this jersey, while Inuukshuk or whatever is.
Any indication on when we'll see helmets/pants to go with them? Team practice maybe?
Still dont like canadas new unis... needs more black!
Looks good. Very tasteful outside the funky hidden stuff in the crest.
Needs more black? i didn't realize black was a national colour.
need's more black? I disagree. Too many teams (from HS to Pros) just throw in black and 8 out of 10 times it's totally not necessarily....black isn't even in the Canadian flag.
I (disclaimer: US citizen, haha) LOVE the team Canada sweaters.
I agree with Matt (US citizen here too) I like the Canada one way better than our butt ugly boring design.. I wish there is a way to get our words to the USA Hockey, how much we hate it...
Shackihoko, I somewhat agree, couldn't get a great look at the USA sweaters though.
I do like the darker shade of blue, but not quite navy blue they look to be using...
I wish they woulda used the jerseys with the huge half of the maple leaf on it, the 3rd jersey in the World Juniors for those who dont understand
Oh, btw, I just noticed this, why do some of the USA sweaters have the u-s-a like arched in the front where some have it going down L to R diagonally?
The replica jerseys on sale (saw them in stores today) have the hockey Canada logo on the sleeve (while these ones don't) probably safe to assume that they will be on the jerseys everywhere (except on the ice). Also the store I was at had Team Canada alternate jerseys on order for later this year (like last years world jrs? who knows?)
These are gorgeous. As with all fads, the black uniforms are better left in the '90's.
here is a site with some pics from US camp
There's some jerseys with arched lettering and some slanted because the USA again has two white designs. The arched lettering white is home jersey (white are home in IIHF), while the slanted lettering jerseys also have a blue shoulder yoke, you might notice. Those are the 1960 throwbacks used at the world championships in 2008 and it seems now brought back now as the alternate design.
They are classy and have that timeless feel. A few gripes: would like to have seen a white maple leaf on the red jersey instead of a white outline. Sure it may risk looking like the NHL maple leafs, but it would tie in nicer. I also don't think it needed the wordmark either. All in all, a lot of hubbub to essentially remove the player and the colour black from the logo.
Chris, is there any way you can use one of your many well placed sources to get a look at the other 4 designs for the new jersey (that were ultimately denied by the IOC - as per this article )
thanks!
I doubt it, bw. Hockey Canada is very protective of their jerseys. Unless they release it themselves, you probably won't find it here on Icethetics.
A member of the Canucks forums went to the USA camp and posted video + pictures from it.

Those Canada jerseys are fantastic! Didn't USA Hockey officially unveil the new jersey? If so, how come all the photos of it look like they're bootleg garbage? You'd think somebody would get a good shot of these things!
WoW, they are exact replicas of the Phoenix Coyotes jerseys, with just a different crest,,how orignal
Would have been better had the icons in the leaf been entirely native in design. Having the moose and the hockey sticks and all that stuff tossed in makes the overall design look really hokey and fake, it looks like something you'd buy at a Gastown tourist shop. Thankfully they're coloured pretty subtlety so unless you look at it pretty closely you can't make that stuff out.
They should have gone with the '72 throwback jersey they used in the WJC.
Oh my God!! These jerseys are the best thing I've ever seen. The logo is just as kick ass as the original classic logo. I love both. I wish I could say the same thing about the US jersey. I think the US "logo" and jersey is the most uninspiring and boring logo in the world. Put a mean-looking eagle or some sort of Liberty head or something on it!! FFS!!
Any idea why the unveiling video and images from that day show no white stripe on the neck of the jersey? see www.hockeycanada.ca for the video of the unveiling. Very Weird!!!
I was super excited to get the new sweater. I tried it on and noticed that the neck/collar on them is really small. It was tight like a normal t-shirt. Way smaller than any other sweater i've tried on... wonder if they will fix this?
