Interesting... never thought that the two hockey teams in Phoenix were nicknamed the Roadrunners and the Coyotes.
I am completely stupid but I really dont understand. Can someone explain it.
They think the only thing awkward about the team is that there named the coyotes, but turns out the team lost tons of money and had virtually no success

nnd, the coyote and Roadrunner cartoons were a staple of looney toons. The Coyote would chase the roadrunner with all sorts of crazy contraptions and always, always fail in hilarious ways. Falling off a cliff is a popular one, and the roadrunner always mocks him.
The coyote has just fallen off the cliff in the comic, and the roadrunner is mocking him as the guys are saying what's the worst that can happen when you name the team after the coyote who single handedly kept the acme company in business and completely and utterly failed every single time.
Thanks for explaining the joke Jeff! Usually when the joke has to be explained, then it has failed. HOWEVER, the joke was dependant on knowing Wile E Coyote. Darn kids these days. No respect for the classics.
I did understand the reference to the cartoon but I dont think I am up to date on what is occurring in Phoenix currently
yeah I grew up watching pretty much only looney toons and i fully understand whats happening in pheonix and i needed that explanation too... he who laughs last, didnt get the joke
The RoadRunners preceded the Coyotes in Phoenix. It's mocking the Yotes for chasing them off....
I think you're all looking a little too far into it.
