Flyers to Reveal Classic Sweater

The Philadelphia Flyers will unveil their 2010 Winter Classic jersey this Friday at 2 PM in a rather unusual way. Three players will shoot pucks at a block of ice concealing the new sweater. I'm looking forward to seeing that.

The information comes from this article on Philly.com. The Flyers are also confirming the unveiling date and time via their official web site. As always, count on Icethetics for pictures as soon as I can get them posted. (I'm starting a new job on Thursday so it may be a little tricky getting this stuff posted immediately on Friday.)

Thanks to Andrew for the tip. No word yet on when to expect an unveiling in Boston.

Huh, that's cool. I guess the ice is going to have to be fairly thin or else it's going to be a slow and anticlimactic reveal. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the reveal online somewhere. It is creative, that's for sure.

haha that's awesome. I hope we get to see video, and i hope it takes an awkwardly long time to break through.

I think it would be awesome if they decided on this retro Flyers look. But it would be a stretch.

Can't wait to get my hands on one!
It will probably look like this...

Yea there's no doubt that they would just do the white version of their 3rd's. But it would be awesome if they wore the retro black pants instead of the traditional pant/socks.

the league made the pants illegal a while ago. i think because when players fell they would slide faster and the league said it was unsafe. im not sure about the reason but i know theyre definately illegal

Hey, the breaking through ice is a pretty novel concept.

Thanks for the shout out! Keep up the good work!

Not quite sure what all the hoopla's about. How much different can it look besides the 3rd they just
toted out last year? Like oconn96 states, probably be the white version of the new alt.
I like either one though. The Bruins' choice should be interesting.

I hope it's the 80-81 white jersey, they look so nice.
Hope your job works out great chris. =]

I'd rather see them bury some jerseys in ice, as opposed to freeing them. The buffaslug is due for a cryo sleep.

Great answer Dave! Best reply I've read in months.
The Buff. Slug would be my choice too. How bout the Ducks or Thrashers?

nothin special

the black name plate looks dumb

Sep 11 · 2:25 PM PDT | Unregistered Commentertyler212

I am a huge Flyers fan and a fan of the old school orange jersey. This one is not as good. And I agree that the black nameplate sucks. There is no reason for it.

I agree that it's nothing special, but for the umpteenth time...... it's modeled to look like the jersey from the PAST! Why do so many people not get this? You want newer looking jersey's? Then go buy a current home or away jersey from RBK...... piping and odd collars and under arm patches abound.

I WILL say that the black nameplate now looks overdone. The white nameplate on last years 3rd's was a work of art to their past.

Would not surprise me if the Flyers adopt the white jersey as their new road uni and ditch the black third altogether.
