Isles to Reveal New Road Jersey

Isles' new road jersey unveilingThe New York Islanders announced that they will be unveiling a new road jersey at their draft party on June 25.

The Islanders Insider email, sent to fans this afternoon, says that John Tavares will be making a special appearance to model the new sweater.

The email doesn't go into specifics, but it is expected to be a white version of the Isles' current throwback third jersey. Icethetics readers Craig D. and Derek S. provided us with a look at the email.

If you want a preview of what that jersey is anticipated to look like, the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers started wearing it this season. Click here to see it in action.

Still don't like the logo...

Not only that, but it's nothing new. We've seen it before, so what's the point?

Next, the Devils are gonna unveil a third jersey, but it'll look exactly like their primary set.

The Islanders' logo is a great logo. Not that other teams need to do this, but their logo has all the elements of the team name, where they play, and the sport of hockey. I believe the logo was inspired by the NY Mets baseball logo. Now, let's hope the Isles get a new arena and more depth so they can return respectability. Would love to see a future Stanley Cup rematch between the Isles and my Canucks.

OILCOUNTRY you took the words out of my mouth. The Oilers are really disappointing me by not fully embracing the vintage orange and blue look for their home and road uniforms. Patrick LaForge should not have any say when it comes to jersey design ever again.
As for the Islanders jersey, I love it. There is a distinct flavor in the NHL to go retro, but it is happening too slow for my taste. All teams need to embrace the traditional hockey sweater design. Plus, the NHL needs more color in it, circa the 1970's and 1980's. I would love to see the Canucks bring back black/gold/orange/red, the Kings purple/gold, the Flames all red/orange/white (no black), the Penguins black/gold (no Vegas gold). I would love to see the NHL go back to light colors at home and dark on the road. Then while the NHL is at it allow teams to wear gold/yellow at home again.

LET'S GO ISLES!!Anyways,I Have No Problem With The T-B Change, But It Seems To Be Just A Color Change.

Isles logo is ugly, but classic so it's one of those logos that shouldn't be changed. Coming from an isles fan too.

i AM HOPING TO SEE TAYLOR HALL WALK UP TO THE OILERS, AND GET PRESENTED WITH A RETRO AWAY JERSEY TO MATCH THE HOME! Oilers need to do the same as NewYork.

Good. Another horrific "RBK" design sent to the dustbin. Hope the Oilers get in on this trend too.

I have to agree with the Edmonton comments.
The Oilers have spent the latter half of two years flirting with the notion that there will be a return to Blue and Orange.
Its one thing to flaunt the retro as a third, but to make it a prominent HOME jersey as well as replace the copper primary logo - it just ends up being a fat tease to fans.

Vancouver is in the same boat.

Philadelphia figured it out, and apparently so has NYI.

We've known this for how long? Still nice to hear it confirmed though.

oilcountry, hold your horses, it's almost certainly coming. Don't worry, I very much doubt that Taylor Hall will ever wear one of those horrible half stripe abominations.

The Oilers are going through such an organizational culture shift that now would be the perfect time to bust out the orange and blue full time on the road and at home.

The Oilers should let the fans vote on if they wqant the RBK to stay another season or to completely ditch it and go full retro next season with maybe even a retro alternate... I can't see the oilers ever making the playoffs with the current horrific jerseys becuase you have to look good to play good, and thats why they've sucked the last few years (probably not the real reason but to me it is lol)... They're like freaking practise jerseys and no other teams take them seriously becuase of that. Teams either get intimidated by your colors (Bruins, Flyers), intimidated by the tradition (ppl in the 80's were scared whenever blue and orange came to their town), or the jerseys need to look respectably fashionable (horizontal stripes are the only way to do it, not vertical) and quite frankly, our jersyes dont match any of those criterias.

And the NHL should let the fans vote on whether they want white at home and darks on the road. White at home just gives you that homer feeling and we're all used to it. I know they changed it to how it is now because of the third jersey and there was some problem with the team laundry ppl not wanting to bring two sets of jerseys on road trips or something because its extra work but they get paid for a reason right? And if they switch back to whites at home they can wear thirds at home too. That would be a nice mix of other teams dark jerseys and your teams third jerseys to see throughout the season. +

The Islanders going old school jersey (home and AWAY) makes me smile. I don't care if most people on here hate the Islanders logo ... to me it is and always will be classic ... take the fisherman and the lighthouse and shove-it!

I'm not a fan of the Flames, but I would really like them to go back to the older looking jerseys ... same with the Oilers!

Couldn't be happier, the NY Islander's "Classic Whites" are the nicest jersey's in all of hockey. The Logo is great! I can't wait to buy 4 of them. Go Islander's Mark N/J By the way, great site Icethetics

And the odds of New York trading away their first round pick just went up by 50%. :P

No, but what if they actually trade away their pick?
