America's bicentennial saw two American NHL franchises relocate. In 1976, the Kansas City Scouts move to Denver and are renamed the Colorado Rockies while the financially floundering California Golden Seals head to Ohio to become the Cleveland Barons. Elsewhere, the Pittsburgh Penguins' blue goes yet another shade darker and the Minnesota North Stars update their primary mark.
