In 1996, Canada says goodbye to another NHL franchise as the Winnipeg Jets move to the desert southwest and are rebranded the Phoenix Coyotes. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Sabres make sweeping identity changes for the first time in their 26-year history, dropping blue and gold in favor of red and black. The Sabres introduce new logos and uniforms which will only last a decade. Also, the Edmonton Oilers update their logo and uniforms with a darker blue and red trim while swapping out orange for copper.
