Blues vs Coyotes

Let's just get this out of the way. I'm going with the Blues logo here. The Coyotes logo isn't terrible, but nor is it great. They have yet to find a great logo in my opinion.

Coyotes howl and so does a Blues singer for that matter. Fortunately for the Blues man, if he ever had to face a Coyote, perhaps he'd have a saxophone with which to whack it on the head. (Try not to find the logic of a Blues singer carrying a sax into the desert. You'll never get there.)

The Analysis
Even though it probably won't live on as a classic NHL logo a hundred years from now, the Coyotes logo is at least a coyote. Sometimes I think a trumpet or some other musical instrument would be a better fit for the Blues logo. Despit that, I still like the musical note, I just don't quite get the wing attached to it. Anyone?

It has the "wing" because it's a 64th note (or hemidemisemiquaver). A 64th note has a stem with 4 flags, which is what is in the Blues' logo...it is just highly stylized.

Yeah, I get that and that's where I assumed they were going with it. It's just that it comes off to me more as a wing. Does a 64th note somehow have any significance to the city of St. Louis by any chance? Thanks for the comment!
Yes, I'm assuming it does. St. Louis was founded in 1764. :D
But I see where you're coming from. If a person doesn't know music they would think it was a wing of some sort.

The wing may have something to do with the rich aviation history St. Louis. McDonald Douglas (now Boeing) and TWA were headquartered in St. Louis.

i think the wing is supposed to be a wing, but at the same time it is supposed to be a flag on a note
