Update: The Next Tournament
Sunday · Mar 9 · 2008 | 1:09 PM PDTThe sidebar poll hasn't even been open a day and it's already pretty clear you guys are most interested in a goalie mask tournament. I don't blame you. Some of them are pretty cool. I'm going to start developing a pool for the tournament and then begin collecting photos. I might enlist you guys for help on that. Most of you are pretty resourceful.
Anyway, I'll leave the poll up until it's closed but unless something drastic happens, I think it's fair to say we'll go with the goalie masks. But I've been getting tons of suggestions for categories not on that list. The way I see it, the more ideas we come up with, the longer this site can last, right?
So aside from the ones already in that poll, some I think we should get to at some point are goal horns, team mascots and even goalie pads. I'm still up for the center ice tournament, but that'll be difficult to put together. I need pictures and time to make graphics. It'll be a bit complicated but not impossible. If anyone would be able and willing to help out with that, email me.
That's all for now. Keep the suggestions coming in. Maybe at some point we'll try to get two tournaments going at the same time. It'd be a lot of work for me but worth it if you guys keep coming back to vote.

I have a couple questions, will the tournament of goalie masks be current players? Or will it be all goalies, even going back 20-25 years or more? Also, what about goalies that have changed their masks from year to year? (i.e Tom Barasso with Pittsburgh in the '90's) Will it be like the tournament of bad logos, where it's just one team that the goalie was with (i.e. Hextall with the Flyers and/or his Nordiques or Islanders masks, just as an example) or many different masks the goalie has used?
These are just some thoughts.... what does anyone else think?

Should be goalie masks....but current ones, too many to go and start looking at the old ones...I would a best tournament, and a worst tournament

goalie masks wouldnt be a fair contest at all...its clear that chris osgood would win by a landslide
i think we should do what we did for the worst logo tournament we should vote for the top 16 or 30 helmets of all time to go into the tournament.
Problem with letting it be the 30 current starting goalies is whose mask do you use from Pittsburgh? Fleury or Conklin? Washington? Kolzig or Huet?
In fairness, Olie's always had one of the nicest masks in hockey, but Huet's new mask is preeeetty.
being a goalie myself i love the idea of a mask tournament. and probably have photos to donate. But i had an idea today of a MASCOT TOURNAMENT.... that could be fun, best or worst.
