Oilers Put 30th On Ice

A photo of Edmonton Oilers rookie Taylor Chorney on the team's official web site reveals the new paint job on the ice at Rexall Place. It's the traditional Oilers logo with a giant "30" at the bottom.
You can go to their site or see the image below.
By the way, I said "traditional" because you'll notice the distinct lack of a red circle encompassing the logo. It's what I anticipate seeing on this season's third jersey.
Thanks to Darren for the tip on the photo.
It's a simplified version of the 30th anniversary logo I posted last month. That logo was found in public document filings by journalist James Gordon. For a refresher...
I imagine that or something similar will serve as a special patch somewhere on the Oilers' jerseys this season.

I know it's hard to see that center ice logo completely, but that looks 10 X better than any of the center ice logos in the tournament. That is sick
ya Taylor Chorney!!! Its gonna be hard not seeing him in a fighting sioux jersey this year. and now that i think of it, why not a college hockey TOL??? you could the 6 conferences either separate, or all together. just throwin that idea out there
Ah, I thought it was the old logo and that the oil drop was orange, but I wasn't sure. Glad it's true. Now wear those throwbacks all the time!
I still find it a bit annoying that outside of Al Hamilton's banner, there's very little visible reference back to the WHA, which seems kind of important, since they're the only one still left where they originally put it.
But hey, it looks nice.
i second doogie2k.
it should say est. 1972 - celebrating 37 years of oilers hockey; the nhl has always tried to erase any mention of the wha. the logo says "celebrating 30 years of oilers hockey" not nhl hockey.
which reminds me of the boneheaded media in 2004-05 saying "hockey is canceled" - should have told my beer league, the AHL and Europe because all of the above and more were still playing.
but to get back on topic the logo does look very nice.
