Stars Unveil Third Jersey!
Today the Dallas Stars officially unveiled their new alternate sweater for the 2008-09 season. As rumored, it's essentially a white version of their current black jersey.
It features DALLAS in text across the chest in green with the sweater number beneath it on the front. You can read more on the Stars' web site. But first thing's first. Here's a picture.
It pains me to think Brad Richards will have to wear that. So disappointed we let him go.
Anyway, here's how the Stars describe their new threads.
The new third jersey is the same basic design as their current dark sweater, but white. This look was introduced last season as a new design for the Dallas Stars — a word-mark as the primary emblem on the front of the jersey, as the team’s home of “DALLAS” is cleanly presented across the chest accompanied by the respective player’s uniform number centered underneath. The traditional Dallas Stars logo is featured on each shoulder.
According to their web site, the Stars will wear this sweater for the next four straight games. They also released a complete schedule for the rest of the season.
I'll add more pictures as they become available.

If Dallas is not going to take pride in the name they "stole" from Minnesota, let alone stealing the franchise, by not having the it on the front of their sweaters, then, for crying out loud, give the Stars' name and North Stars' history and team records to the Minnesota Wild and allow them to be a "revived" North Stars franchise. Stars is just too common of a name, so why not come out with something like Bullseyes, Cyclones, Stallions, or Dragons? Those names would be much more marketable in terms of coming out with a sharp-looking crest and colour scheme. As for the North Stars' name and the classic N-Star crest, fans in Minnesota would buy new North Stars merchandise like crazy. And it sure beats being called the "Wild", probably the most bushleague team name in North America's major sports leagues.
This looks way better than just about every 3rd jersey. Yes it is simple. You know what isn't simple? The "SENS" lines and stripes all over their jersey. The Islanders 3rd jersey socks not going the whole way around. Team's try to lure fans with flashy jerseys and they just embarass themselves. The stripes are clean and crisp (for a jersey that isn't, see the Oilers or Panthers.
There's nothing spectacular about this jersey, but compared to its competition, it's great.
