Kings Back In Black?
The Los Angeles Kings sent out an email to fans previewing tonight's game against the Blues. The reason this is relevant to Icethetics is a link at the bottom of the email. The Kings are offering their new yet-unreleased third jersey for pre-sale on their web site.
And the ad reads "Back in Black." Hmm, where have we heard that before?
What irks me is whether at team whose primary jersey is black can actually say they're "back" in black? Back from where? Last night? But I digress.

By the way guys, my apologies for the complete lack of attention I've paid to Icethetics today. I plan to have the Flashback '98 tournament back up and running tonight (a VOTE! link will appear at the top of the page) and you can expect the IceHL Central Division logo voting to go live at some point tomorrow. I was out most of the day buying a new car. And it's Lightning blue!

They had this ad on the scoreboard at Thursday's game. How can they be "back in black" if they've been wearing a black primary jersey every season for the last 20+ years? I will never understand any of the things AEG does.
This is like the third time it has been posted on the website, e-mailed to fans, or mailed to season-ticket holders. Despite all the rumors, they seem to contend that we will feel differently about it once we see it in a couple weeks. I'm not so certain, but since season-ticket holders receive a free, autographed jersey on Sunday, November 23, I don't care if it's a plastic bag. Dustin Brown's autograph is enough for me.
Oh, and congrats on the new car. Lightning blue is one of the sickest (in a good way) colors there is. Care to post any pictures?

I'm in love with that car. Once I can drive, and have the money (I start my first job next Monday!) I'm gonna buy one in Kings colors.. except apparently the Kings' color is black, not purple. Somebody should totally tell them to go to purple.
Did you buy the car in that color because of the Lightning? Or is it just a coincidence?
it's the Kings. that's what they do. though technically, one should note the website says "We Are Coming Back To Black" (whatever that means, I can't completely tell) rather than "Back In Black". I think it's just supposed to hint that the color of the unrevealed 3rd jersey will be black, not purple or silver or white.
but this is the same team that once used the marketing slogan "Play Hard!" for an entire season. yes, I'm not making that up. thank goodness they've improved just slightly since that time (current incarnation being Pride = Passion = Power). guess which is the only t-shirt I ever got thrown near me in the stands. you got it, Play Hard... which the more I think about it, makes for a very poor double entendre.
btw, good car color. you're just missing "B O L T S" on the driver and passenger door...
