Ducks 3rd Jersey Leaked
The Anaheim Ducks new alternate jersey has been leaked by the online sports retailer FansEdge.
That can't be good for their Reebok account. However, it is good news for us jersey geeks as Icethetics can now provide a visual sample of what you've read about for weeks.
By the way, Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy was actually first with this story. Check out his take on the new threads.
Despite it coming from a third party, this is official Reebok photography (right). We should all be very familiar with it. So at least for me there is no question whether this is the Ducks' actual jersey.
It makes sense that Reebok has provided images to retailers ahead of the November launch of the new sweater — though retailers were probably asked to keep it under their hats until then. Oops.
But one image wasn't enough. FansEdge kept going. Here's a look at the back of the jersey (left).
Since it's not customized, we can't be sure about the number and lettering style. We could assume it will be the same as the home and road sweaters but you never know.
According to the Ducks, the jersey will make its official on-ice debut on Nov. 26 when they host the Chicago Blackhawks (on Black Friday, of course).
As far as the design, I'm not crazy about the striping up and down the sides. Of course these shots don't provide the best view. We'll have to wait to see it in action next month.
The upshot is the "D" logo on the chest. Been waiting for that since 2006, when the current home and road sweaters were unveiled. Plus, as you can see on the shoulders, the original Mighty Ducks logo returns in the new color scheme, as I mentioned previously.
What do you guys think? What did they get right? What did they get wrong?
By the way, in case you didn't click the link earlier today, the image at FansEdge has since been removed. It will remain here on Icethetics, however, for informational purposes.

I like them. The striping on the sides looks good, and I like the D logo instead of the wordmark. It's a good jersey, but then again anything is a good jersey compared to what they're wearing now.
Should have gone with a throwback jersey
You sure this is it? The collar isn't the same design as all of the other jerseys in the league -- the NHL logo is usually inset, for starters
Plus this thing is just plain ugly.
JFC that is terrible. If there were any more orange on those jerseys, I would mistake them for a deer hunter. Then again, if you take away the orange, it looks like a bad variation of a Pens jersey because of the gold they use (without the logo, of course).
My suggestion: file this thing in the closet right beside the '95 Wild Wing jersey. It's an eyesore. But since my suggestion probably will never be seen or even used, I hope it looks better being worn than it does in a 270×317 jpg.
ugh a plain d looks terriable no orange
i was hoping that the jersey would be orange, but i still like how they made it turn out
Another black jersey for an already all-black. BORING AND TIRED LOOK. They just can't get out of the shadow of the Kings. They should be primarily orange.
They got it WRONG. Really sick of black and navy-so-dark-it-looks-black jerseys. 10 of the 30 teams seam to be navy blue. Columbus, St. Louis, Nashville, Edmonton, Buffalo, Florida, Tampa Bay, all starting to look alike.
I know that nobody will agree with me... but I sorta liked the word mark. But I do agree this is better.
Now that I've been looking at it, it looks fake. Honestly. Look at the patches. They look flat and the wrinkles in the jersey don't seem right. I'm not saying this isn't it, but are we 1000% sure this is right? Just thinking outside the box.
I actually love this jersey. I'm dying to buy one, and i'm a life-long Rangers fan from NYC. I would still wear one of these in public, just not on game nights and never when the Ducks play the Rangers. I think it's a great jersey.
What took them so long? Scripted logos are the worst for hockey sweaters as they're so hard to read on ice.
WHY! How hard is it to make a newer looking duck I am sick of this new look its time to stop all this bull shit and listen to the fans of the ducks and let us tell u what we want.
I like the standalone D, it looks better than the name, but I wish it would have had a lace-up neck.
This looks like a Pittsburgh Penguins home jersey ate a Philadelphia Flyers jersey.
Way to go Anaheim. FAIL.
This jersey is just the Ducks' home jersey with orange. Although saying that, it looks excellent.
i was hoping/heard they were going to incorporate the old logo into it as well... kinda disappointed they didnt... the duck mask will always be a classic!!
This would be better if they inverted the colors Orange and Black third jerseys should use a secondary color in my opinion but they put the Yoke on it which I like. Dig the logo overall I give it a seal of approval its unique and thats what makes a good third sweater to me.
doesnt it look like the old black sabres jersey?
with that in mind i kind of like it. although the shouder piping is rediculous. dont like them on any jersey. too thin a line.
These Jerseys are soo freaking sick!!! Love everything about it!!!
I think its pretty cool to be honest. A lot of people don't like it for some reason or another but i see nothing wrong with it..no apron lines as they are called, i like the lines and stripes going up from the sides. they're visible with out being obnoxious. the arms are good too. i like the amount of orange they threw in it. As for the front logo, i really don't mind it, but i think they could do a switch. Put the Shoulder logo on the front and the front on the shoulder. Give the jerseys a classic Mighty Ducks feel. i give it a 7.5/10. i'm not a ducks fan, but i wouldn't mind having one of these to wear.
