Tattoo Artist Designs Jersey
The Ontario Reign have enlisted LA Ink tattoo artist Corey Miller to design their newest specialty sweater.
The unique red jerseys will be worn on Jan. 23 when the Reign host the Stockton Thunder. The uniforms will then be auctioned off with proceeds going to the American Red Cross.
If you really want to see the intricacies of this design, click to enlarge the image. Despite said intricate details, this is actually a pretty sharp sweater — for a one-off number. Wouldn't want to see it become a habit, of course.
Too often we see what terrible manner of thing can come when a team tries too hard on a specialty jersey. The Everblades' recent holiday sweater comes instantly to mind, but we'll talk more about that later.
Thanks to Vinnie from the Reign for sending along an early look at this sweater.

That is a great look, and somehow I imagine wearing this will give the Reign players a bit more swagger and confidence than they would have if they were wearing some of the rodeo clown specialty sweaters out there...
oooh pretty. Wouldn't want to see this on a regualr basis though.
Nice. I can only imagine that the feeling that most minor league hockey players feel when they see the horrendous specialty sweaters they have to wear every once in a while, but that's something I think players wouldn't mind wearing.
I like it.
these are awesome! i dont usually like the printed sweaters but these are too cool to resist.
That is amazing, I love the dragon styling to it. This is perfect and I hope they make a ton of money for the Red Cross.
This actually looks pretty awesome... the best is that the ink design is of a dragon, keeping in theme really (as opposed to some random designs)
Awesome!!!!!!
I'd like to see SP go the way of the dinosaur. The color scheme is nice, but the tattoo art should be saved for the skin. It's subtle enough that it keeps from killing the sweater totally, but not something I hope people start to make a habit of in any hockey league. However, the Red Cross charity thing...way cool.
A little surprised with the overwhelming, positive response to these. It's a neat idea and Corey Miller is one of the most talented artists out there but, wow, that seems a bit much for a hockey sweater. Cool idea and interesting execution but it NEEDS to stay a one off thing. Those, as regular jerseys, would become an eyesore pretty quick.
Are they really using custom pants/shells for the game too? That's pretty neat!
