Senators' Heritage Jersey Leaks

New Ottawa sweater seen in sports store a day early

Icethetics ready Kevin Daly spotted the Ottawa Senators 2014 Heritage Classic sweater in an unnamed sports store today and snapped a picture for us. The jersey is scheduled to be unveiled by the team tomorrow — so it probably shouldn't be hanging out in the open like this yet.

As you can see, it's exactly the reverse of the black Heritage jersey launched two years ago. It even includes same the shoulder patches designed by Jacob Barrette. No surprises at all. It's worth noting there's no Heritage Classic patch. But that could simply be because this is only a replica — not what the players will actually wear.

Overall, what do you think?

Neat.

Where is the Heritage Classic patch?

Nov 27 · 8:58 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJRP

Would have like someting a little bit more... different!

Nov 27 · 8:58 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJP

My bad, I would have like to have seen the patch on the jersey, but understand the replica not having one.

Nov 27 · 9:07 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJRP

There is no patch because the patch is optional. Extra $15. Can even order it straight from the team without the patch.

Nov 27 · 9:11 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterBT

Good move for the sens. Move this to away, black to home and make a new red jersey for an alt.

Nov 27 · 9:12 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterSteve

Nothing unexpected with the jersey, nothing new.
The heritage patch is extra $, but if you buy one of the tiered packages through the Sens store it's included, along with tickets to select games/Bingo vs. Hamilton Bulldogs tickets/skills competition tickets/scarf and toque.

But look at the white on the Senators home jersey to the left of the picture. Actual white. One of the official team colours. Isn't it beautiful?

Nov 27 · 9:14 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJD

Something different would have been neat to see, but why mess with a good thing? Both this jersey and it's black counterpart are gorgeous.

Nov 27 · 9:19 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJana

Now tell the team to make their Heritage sweaters their full-time home and away!

Nov 27 · 9:20 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterCDJ

should uses this jersey and the black heritage jersey as their home and away jerseys

Nov 27 · 9:23 AM PST | Unregistered Commenterderek

No surprise here. Would have liked to see something at least slightly different, but they played it safe and it looks good.

Does anyone know if a team would be able to wear 'vintage white' as their road jersey, or if the rules are strict that the standard road jersey must be pure white?

If you're allowed to wear vintage white, I really hope the Sens promote their current third jersey to primary status and make this Heritage Classic jersey their road jersey.

Nov 27 · 9:35 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJeremy

This is a solid jersey. The table is now set for the 'O' jerseys to become the Senators' official home and aways next season. It's gonna be a nice change.

Nov 27 · 9:39 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterSebFromHawk

Exactly what I expected (invert of black one) and not bad at all. Only thing I believe would make both jerseys better would be if there were only the red stripe on the bottom. Look a bit barber pole / pajamey the way they are now,..Now the bigger question is will the Sens adopt this as their primary white since they now have a matching pair? And if so, would there be a vintage white helmet to complement such jersey? Not sure if NHL mandates white helmets to normally be worn with white jerseys. On that note, the Avalanche wore black helmets with their white jerseys for their first handful of home games in 1995....Gonna get off topic with this last line a bit, but would like to see these outdoor "classics" be true to their name by removing ads from the boards as was never really done until less than 30 years ago. Be nice not to see the blatant use of advertising every so often.

Nov 27 · 9:41 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterSean

Very nice IMO... wish they'd wear these full time as their full time road, and the black ones as their full time home.

Nov 27 · 9:42 AM PST | Unregistered Commenterhockeysauce

I'll echo others here. Make this and the black jersey the full-time uniforms and never look back.

Nov 27 · 9:59 AM PST | Unregistered Commenterchris wright

What a Beaut... I agree that this should be the full-time away jersey and have the black jerseys for home. Sick, just sick!

Nov 27 · 10:16 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterSteve6

I would actually prefer not seeing "vintage white" all the time. Seriously, why on Earth would you want to wear a dirty-looking jersey? Nobody I actually know in person likes that look.

Though I like the rest of the design elements; change it to normal white on both this and the current third before promoting them, and I'm sold.

Nov 27 · 10:17 AM PST | Registered CommenterRob S

Rob S,
I love this color. It looks really good on ice. It was amazing when the London Knights used it, and Im sure it'll look great on the Sens.
I'm buying one..... (besides, I need to replace my Alfie Jersey)

Nov 27 · 10:27 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterPDW

It would definitely look better in normal white. I get on my bear league teammates case when they don't wash their jerseys enough and they turn that colour.

Nov 27 · 10:43 AM PST | Unregistered Commenterslam

very nice.....but.....was hoping for something slightly different to the black jersey. will still buy it tho!! perhaps in the future they might use a normal white version as the road jersey......

Nov 27 · 10:45 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJerseyman

I look forward to trying one on when I'm at the game Sunday. If it looks good I'd imagine I'll also be contemplating when I might purchase one...and what name to get on it that's not Alfredsson. Perhaps coincidentally enough on the same day that he's returning to Ottawa. I tend to like getting a C or A player, but if they manage to sign Bobby Ryan long term, I think that'll probably happen. Or maybe Karlsson. If I'm paying, I might as well get twice as many digits...

Nov 27 · 10:48 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterMike

So we are set for the O's vs the V's.

It should look brilliant out there.

Nov 27 · 10:48 AM PST | Registered CommenterRob in Cascadia

the Senators should switch over their jerseys next year using the two heritage jerseys as their home and away and scrap the current ones

Nov 27 · 11:03 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterDmitri

Perfect. You know, the Senators have had the opportunity to brand themselves as the long lost "Original Seven" team. Making this jersey the away jersey and the current alternate the primary home jersey is all they need now.

Nov 27 · 11:09 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJohn

The ONLY thing I don't like is the jock tag at the hem. I don't like them on any of the replicas - don't get me started on the sticker shoulder patches - but at least the Winter Classic jerseys have been void of these. I was hoping the same would hold true for the Heritage jerseys.

Nov 27 · 12:07 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterJustin in Philadelphia

I wish they'd just retire what they have now (RBK Edge base template, same with the Penguins). These will do and I do like them.

Nov 27 · 12:23 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterKyle

I like the vintage jerseys that they have, but if theses were full time jerseys maybe pure white would be the way to go either way I'd be ok with and then have a Red third jersey with the logo from the 90's. I like these and can't wait to get my own.

Nov 27 · 1:52 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterSteve-O

not bad, I don't mind it at all and def will take this over the ugly 3D senator logo. They never should have got rid of the inaugural logo/jersey. The "O" logo is good and it does indeed look like these "O" jerseys will become the senators permanent home and away. Perhaps they can make a new third and go retro to the inaugural jerseys?

Nov 27 · 1:59 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterJatt

JUSTIN IN PHILADELPHIA,
Stitch removal tool. On ALL of my jerseys.

Nov 27 · 3:03 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterPeter

An absolute beauty. I'll parrot everyone else here, this and the current alternate must be promoted to full time set, with a red third. A la Spinal Tap, they turned it up to eleven. No surprises and no need for any. Well done.

Nov 27 · 4:17 PM PST | Registered CommenterRedneck

Looks even better than the black one! I hope a non-vintage white version of these two sweaters become the Sens' new primary kit.

Nov 27 · 7:45 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterNick

i hope this signals a change in what they wear regularly. Use this and the black version full time!!

Nov 27 · 8:19 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterJason

If they moved forward with making these and the blacks their primary jerseys, what is everyone's opinion on whether they should keep the vintage white or go to regular white?

Nov 28 · 5:27 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterMediumguts

This one is better than the old one I want to have this sweater any of you here know where we can get it and their is still available

Nov 28 · 7:24 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterOliver Gerasimov

This is simply a perfect jersey. Can't be long before this one and the black equivalent become the primary set and they get rid of their boring Penguins-colour-swapped look.
