So these last two polls are for now-nonexistant teams? In that case I'll repost what I brought up in another poll. Sorry if you've read it already:

Chris - Why do the Red Wings not have a poll? If you look at their vintage jerseys you can see that the winged wheel has gone through a noticeable tweak or two over the decades (you'll notice the wings have gotten larger and more streamlined relative to the wheel as times goes by), to say nothing of the gothic-D or striped jerseys from the 20s/30s. It just seems odd that for polls for teams with long histories (most notably Boston or Chicago) you display a catalogue of logos with minor-at-best changes between them as poll options going back a good 80 years or so, yet don't do the same for Detroit despite their logo having gone though similar motions.

What a great logo! Everything is fine in it. The W, the H and the whale's tale! OMG! Very great logo! One of the best ever!!!

Hey, I never noticed the H before!!!

Oh and matthew, stop that whining! Seriously, those Wings tweaks are miniscule... and it doesn't matter, the Wings logo is cool no matter what.

Hi Matthew! I have no problem doing a Red Wings poll. I just hadn't scheduled one since, as others have said, the changes haven't really been material, in my opinion. But I have been wrong before.

Why don't you email me the logos you think should be considered for a poll like that and maybe it'll show up here one day. I really do love getting input from you guys. Without you, all these polls would be pointless. Thanks!

Just wish you would have included the WHA-era "New England Whalers" logos. The W with the harpoon and Pucky (which had been used as a secondary for a time in the NHL years, but I believe had been a primary at one point in team history). I think the logo with the harpoon is my all-time favourite, but any of them rule. I miss my beloved Whale!

Jason has a good point -- the old Whalers logo with the harpoon is really neat as well. Technically, though, I suppose it doesn't fit here (the "whale-tail" logo appeared when the Whalers joined the NHL).

Either way, love the nostalgia -- I miss my hockey team, too (Go Whale!)

THE WHALER LOGO MAY BE THE BEST LOGO IN NHL HISTORY FROM A TECHNICAL GRAPHIC ARTS POINT OF VIEW(MAYBE SECOND ONLY TO THE DEVILS)...SINCE THIS WEB SITE FOCUSSES ON LOGO DETAIL, I HAVE TO POINT OUT THAT THE LINEAR OUTLINE OF THE OLD HARTFORD LOGO PICTURED IS INCORRECT...THE OLD TAIL WAS "FATTER" AND THE "H" IN THE OLD WASN'T AS PRONOUNCED...I STILL BLEED GREEN, BRING BACK THE WHALE, SCREW KARMANOS!!!

The logo enough is reason to put hockey back in Hartford.
