SABRES & WHALERS NAMED CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations go out to both the Buffalo Sabres and Hartford Whalers vintage logos! In an unprecedented event, voters at the NHL Tournament of Logos were evenly split on which logo they felt was best. After 3,136 votes, both logos finisehd with 1,568 each.
On a personal note, I'm shocked by the tie. I really didn't expect it. Although it makes sense to me that it happened in a championship round before any other round. I want to thank everyone who voted and participated in this poll.
And just to address the "controversy" — which is becoming a disturbing commonplace among some of you guys (I know, you can never please everybody) — nobody got "robbed." The polls are set to close automatically. Also if you check the original post, there is no longer a scheduled closing time of 11:59 PM as there used to be. I addressed that a while back. So just because the poll didn't close at 11:59 PM your time doesn't mean it didn't automatically close when it was supposed to.
Starting to love controversy, by the way. Maybe I"ll work that into the title of the blog. The Controversial NHL Tournament of Logos! Nice ring, but probably a bit too many syllables. Looking forward to the next tournament. Expect an announcement this afternoon!

That is totally gay. The poll gave whaler fans a longer time to vote. I think the Sabres got robbed and should have won the title. The poll should have closed when it was supposed to, but it didnt. Way to go guy running these things. We should run these two teams again for the best vintage logo and come up with a winner, there's no f*cking ties in hockey.

Wow! I never expected this. But I'm ok with it. And that's coming from a die-hard Sabres fan. The Whalers logo is really great.
If you tracked this poll, it's pretty fair honestly. The Whalers started out strong, then the Sabres pulled ahead, but the Whale made a surge there. Very fitting.

I don't know if you know this, but if the poll "gave Whaler fans a longer time to vote," it also gave Sabres fans a longer time to vote as well.
There may be no ties in hockey, but there's also no whining like a little bitch in hockey either.
As much as I would've liked to see the Whalers win, I think it's pretty awesome that over 3000 people voted and it ended dead even.

Don't give me that Time Zone/ Daylight savings BS... when i posted here last night it said 12:04 on THIS site. and last time i checked, Buffalo and Hartford are in the same time zone.
If you didn't have the ending time of the poll for 11:59 or earlier on Nov. 3rd... what would make you put the ending date as Nov. 3rd? thats BS. When the date changed to Nov. 4th the Sabres were ahead. Next time post the real date you have the poll set to end.

I'm honestly fine with a tie. These are two fantastic logos.
I feel this is the best it could have been. And for all you who think this sucks. Remember the ending to that Hockey Episode of the Simpsons when they tear down the arena...Though I wouldn't reccomend it here.

All kidding aside, I think a tie is fitting in this case for reasons I've already stated.

I agree with some of the other voters who say there should be a one day playoff between the teams to decide 1 winner. There also needs to be a cutoff time or a time when it actually says it will end so there is no confusion.
There should be a tiebreaker and everyone who voted whale should vote for the sabres or any team that got knocked out somehow by the whale should vote against them.
Sabres should have won!

Your weak, tired Buffalo cliche responses only prove you have no real understanding of what it's like to be a Buffalo fan.
Also, what exactly are you getting at with your "rusty forks" comment? Is that what you do for entertainment where you come from? Because it's the first this Buffalo fan has ever heard of it.
And in fairness, if Sabres fans are "crying" about the poll, I think I see just as many people who think the Whale should have prevailed. Yet you don't mention them.
Go back to whatever parent's basement you crawled out of.
