Flyers vs Capitals

vs
FLYERS
CAPITALS
5-8
4-8

The Aesthetics
Hey, speaking of the Capitals. A dissenter (Pens fan) among you recently commented that I was a "bandwagon hockey fan" because my personal preferences lean away from liking his team's logo. He called me a Capitals fan. I'm sure he didn't mean any offense to Caps fans. Anyway, if you are one, don't be offended by my distaste for your team's logo. I like the new colors, but wordmarks don't work for me.
Flyers

The Nickname
You suppose some Flying creatures could attack a Capital city? It would be like a remake of the Alfred Hitchcock movie. (You come up with something better.)
Flyers

The Analysis
I like the three stars on the top of the Capitals logo but that's about its sole redeeming quality in my eyes. They're blurry. That's why I wear glasses. The "P" in the Flyers logo does a better job of subtly referencing its home city. And that I like. There are other things too that I've mentioned in past matches, but we'll leave that for now. It's the end of the tournament for the Flyers. They'll finish with a sweep.
Flyers

WINNER
3-0

I didn't call you a bandwagon hockey fan for simply hating the Penguins logo.

I called you a bandwagon hockey fan because you seem to not know the history of ANY logo.

i.e. Wondering why the Canadiens had an H in the logo.

That's simply unforgivable.

Not that I want you to stop this though.

New fans are always good.

You just have to earn your way out of bandwagon status. ;)

Hmm. I don't quite know how to respond to this. It's kind of funny. Since I can't seem to convince you that I have in fact been a hockey fan for 15 years, I'll have to leave that be (though no one I know has ever accused me of "bandwagon status").

Frankly, I never wondered why there's an "H" in the Canadiens logo so much as merely making room for the idea that it can have new significance today. Not less but more than it did 80 years ago. Like the way interest accrues on a loan. (Or something like that.) I wouldn't call a thought like that unforgivable, but then I'm not you.

Beyond that, my knowledge of the game of hockey doesn't necessarily extend into knowing the full histories of each and every NHL team logo. While I like to think I've picked up a lot about them in a decade and a half, I can't say I've really studied them. That's why I started this blog. I wanted to get to the bottom of all of them. Get readers like you to help me broaden my aesthetic horizons.

Anyway, all I'm saying is I don't really think that's grounds for calling me a "new fan." Weird for me, having to say all this.

I'm Chris, by the way. It's nice to meet you.

Flyers vs Capitals -- there are no winners, only trash and more trash.

Let Go Rangers!
