Sens Unveiling Tonight!
Wednesday · Aug 22 · 2007 | 12:47 PM PDT 14 Comments
Just wanted to remind everyone that in less than three hours the Ottawa Senators will unveil their new uniforms and "updated" logos — the latter of which we've already been treated to, allegedly.
To serve as a primer for the big event, I came across these fan-created designs to share — the last of which that shall be speculative, obviously.
We'll find out tonight what's what. Which reminds me, as a person who generally wakes up for work at 2 AM, don't be surprised if I don't post pictures until then. I'm often up until 7 PM so if I get my hands on photos by then, you can be sure I'll post them. Otherwise, check back after 2 AM — eastern time, that is (11 PM for all of you on the Pacific coast).

I absolutely hate the idea of numbers on the front of a hockey sweater. These jerseys look a little too busy with the striping and the numbers on front are just awful on every jersey.
I keep meaning to ask every time I see someone make this comment. Why are we making these sweeping generalities regarding the numbers on the front shoulder?
The only team that did that last year was the Buffalo Sabres. And out of the 8 teams that have unveiled new uniforms for next year, only the New York Islanders have shown numbers on the front. No one else!
It may not be the most attractive thing on the jerseys, but there was a time too when surnames weren't even worn on the back (or numbers on the sleeves for that matter).
Anyway, having said that, this is just a concept. We'll find out later what the actual Sens uniforms look like. So it's not quite time to freak out yet over the numbers on the front. It doesn't seem to be a big trend just yet.
Thanks for commenting!
Anyone else notice that in the presser (http://senators.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=336146) they are highlighting the old striped jerseys?
I suspect that the home jersey won't be fully striped as it would hit into the Ott 67's look, but it is more of a hint towards some major striping happening somewhere on the jersery.
Hopefully not jsut vertiacal arm or torso stripes...
the sad thing is....they will probably look like that
Yeah i thought the exact same thing about that article highlighting those old striped jerseys . I will find out in an hour or two (LIVE!)
@senator42:
I don't think you have to worry about barber polls. Roy Mlakar (the team's President and CEO) was on a local radio station discussing the new jerseys/logos and other stuff this morning, and he talked about the ceremony that's going to take place tonight. He mentionned they would start by having former players come out wearing all the old Senators/Silver Seven jerseys, and then current Sens would come out wearing jerseys from the last couple of years, ending with them showing off the new jerseys.
I think it's more of an homage to Ottawa's hockey history than an indication of things to come, just like the ceremony appears to be shaping up to be.
Also, when the subject of the new logos being leaked came out, Mlakar's answer was very political (he wouldn't confirm or deny if they were the actual logos), but the impression I got was that they were right on the money.
i bet the jerseys are basic red and white combo with no numbers on the front, no horizontal stripes and no shocking changes
@Nick:
Ah that makes much more sense about the barber poles.
I think we're pretty sure abou the logos since they were posted on the CIPO site, just not wha the colors will be. (I've got a site to redesign!)
Any second now. If someone has it please post it.
it's up on the Sens site

oops my bad
ehh.... they look pretty generic, although I don't mind the old school secondary logo. The jerseys need some horizontal lines or something on the bottoms. I'd give it a 7/10.
