UPDATE (9/5 2:36 AM): You already know what I'm going to say. I've closed the comments on this post. You guys need to get a hold on yourselves. It's just a silly poll that, in the long run, will mean absolutely nothing to anybody. I guess I can't make anyone not take it seriously, but come on. This isn't a message board. This is a personal blog. Not only are you being rude to each other, but you're being horribly rude to me. And it's not right.

I offer the privilege to post comments assuming you can be civil about it. There's no call for vicious attacks on one another or myself. If someone says something you don't like, try to let it go or just don't visit my blog anymore. That's all I can offer. Please don't ruin it for everyone else. Thank you.

Despite the downgrade in the new logo from the old one (I'm really going to miss the old logos), the Sens still have a better logo than the Bruins. There's only so much you can do with that.

Ottawa supporters should be thankful they were matched against the NY Rangers in Round 1, easily the worst logo of any of the Original Six teams. You already advanced once... count your blessings.

A Roman soldier has no connection to the name Senators or to the city of Ottawa. In just five years the new logo design will look as dated as the Edmonton Oilers' drip can. Other than that, the Senators logo is simply awesome.

The Senators logo is more simplified now and it represents the where the word senators came from, the early Roman democracy. Some if not most of the Senate were made up of elder soldiers of the Roman military.

Did these soldier-senators wear a helmet and full armor when sitting in the Roman Senate? Didn't think so. What a lame excuse...

You might also know the Roman legionnaires never wore anything remotely resembling what Ottawa's logo depicts. It's far closer to what the ancient Greeks wore in battle... but I'm guessing the bogus depiction fits perfectly with the bogus premise of the design. Congratulations to you!!!

What does a wheel with spokes have to do with brewing.

Sep 1 · 4:47 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

most of the people who vote on this website are retarded, boston bruins is possibly the ugliest logo i have ever seen, it's so damn plain. At least the damn senators have a nice logo

Sep 1 · 5:42 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

what do the boston bruins have to do with brewing? they aren't the brewers, they're the bruins. bruins are bears.

Sep 1 · 6:40 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

It's vote for the better "looking" logo people, not the logo with the most history.

But if you wanna argue logo concept, what the hell does an eight-spoked wheel have to do with bears.

Sep 1 · 9:22 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

They name their team after a bear and their logo has nothing to do with bears? At least there could have been some sort of font type metamorphosis?

Sep 2 · 12:51 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterDylan

the secondary logo features a bear. the primary logo, while lacking any depiction of or reference to a bear, is still related to the city of boston.

Sep 2 · 2:25 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

its not an eight spoke wheel... its a honeycomb... as in bears love honey..

Ok I am not going to explain to you the roman -Ottawa connnection because it's to long and i'm not in the mood but there is a great connection with this logo and Ottawa...And The SENS Have a greater logo than the BRUINS. I think bruin fans are just voting for their team and not the logo.

Sep 2 · 11:55 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Do you want me to draw you a honey comb and put it up? It sure doesn't look like that.

It was noted earlier, but the Ottawa logo REALLY looks like Stiffler. The Roman guy doesnt make sense no matter how you try to spin it.

Sep 2 · 3:54 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

It's a tournament of LOGOS, not LETTERS.

Sep 2 · 5:38 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I voted Bruins. But Ottawa is my second favorite Northeast Division team and I do like their updated logo.

Sep 2 · 6:26 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterJaci

I find it hilarious how many different, but equally retarded, arguements Bruin fans keep making up against the Sens logo.

First, Ottawa and Rome have nothing in common, now the logo looks like Stiffler... what next?

Sep 2 · 6:27 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

i dont care for either team, going by logos only, Bruins easily have the better one. it's a "symbol". Sens logo is just plain dumb and pointless. a floating senator head? why kinda lame symbol is that? Bruins logo is exactly what a logo should be. simple and straight forward. plus i love the hidden meanings in there like the 8 spokes meaning the 8 wins you used to have to get to win the cup. it's cool stuff like that, along with the awesome black and gold combo that should make them win. not some lame floating head.

My 4 year old cousin could come up with the Bruins logo.

My vote goes to the Sens.

tell that to the canadiens then.

Sep 2 · 9:44 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I can't even believe this is even close.

Ottawa's logo is nice, but it's nothing compared to bostons logo.

As for Boston's logo. It stands for Bruins. The logo, the bruins, stands for the character the team stands for(Power), or stood for when it was created.

So much more history behind Boston's logo, and it's simplicity makes it that much more beautiful. Ottawa's original 2D logo, is the only logo that could compete with Bostons, but even then, I feel Bostons logo is still better. Ottawa's current logo is a cartoon. Nuff said.

Sep 2 · 10:42 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

They are both worthy logos, and both have a connection to the cities they represent. It's not necessary to knock one logo in order to justify voting for the other. One is brilliant in its simplicity, the other in its detail. One has a rich history, the other uses a historical symbolism to make it one of the better modern logos in the league. I went with the Bruins on this one.

Sep 2 · 11:11 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I really don't see how a B can beat out a graphicly intense logo such as the Senators. Forget the meaning behind it, the B with spokes of a wheel is pretty boring. For that to be beating out the Sens logo is ridiculous.

Sep 3 · 5:19 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

i looked at the Sens logo, and then i looked at the Bruins logo...and I liked the Bruins logo better. END OF STORY.

Sep 3 · 8:23 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

As far as everyone on this website talking about the two teams logos and the difference between one being more visually engaging and the other being simple, I couldn't agree more.

Where I disagree with the comments on the website is when people start talking about the history of each team. Sure Ottawa didn't have a franchise from the 30's to the 1992 season, but even with those 60+ years out of the league they won the points race in the regular season more than a lot of the "original 6" teams such as Toronto... Further, talking about a rich history, the Ottawa Senators were the first team to win the Stanely Cup in the NHL when it was the only league competing for Lord Stanely's trophy. Beyond that point it was the NHL and WHL winners that would compete. With that in mind, the new franchise name and logo are an homage to the great team that came before... And for those uneducated fans, the original six is not the first teams in the NHL, it is only the teams that survived the depression.
