Flyers Leak Like Wild!
Saturday · Sep 1 · 2007 | 5:30 AM PDT 35 Comments
Including this one, the last five consecutive posts have involved the Philadelphia Flyers. Guess it's a good time to be a Flyers fan.
Yesterday, I posted a photo of a page in the Minnesota Wild season ticket holders book which featured a shot of the new uniform. Well — excuse the pun — but now it seems the Flyers have taken a page out of their book.
Season ticket holders were treated to this photo of the new Rbk EDGE home sweater. It's a much better look than the cell phone photo I posted yesterday. Looks good, Flyers fans. The changes are small but insignificant.
Thanks to everyone who emailed me this image!
And as far as the Reebok "templates" we've seen, this one doesn't appear to match any of them. What do you guys think?

If that's real, I like it. It's not too different from their current ones.
I'm so tired of the black. Stick to the orange/red ... that's what they won the cup with. Looks much bette than black.
I don't think these changes are in any way *insignificant*.
Gone is the tried and true wrap-around shoulder stripes, replaced with lego blocks.
Gone is the waist stripe.
Gone is any kind of individuality.
These things are horrible.
I'm looking at the current home (black) Flyers jersey...there's no shoulder stripes or waist stripes on it now.
No template? Looks a bit like Ottawa's if you ask me.
#2 commented that he/she missed the orange/red. The Flyers have NEVER used red. The team has been ocassionally referred to as "the orange and the black" for years. I liked the orange jerseys, but, really, the team looked like a bunch of skating pumpkins. The black is much more menacing and to me, at least, more "Broad Street Bully-ish". I'm sure that when the league finally does alternate jerseys again (and you know that they will), orange as a primary color will make a return.
As for the jersey pictured, I think it looks great. It's far better than what I expected and no number on the front is a huge plus for me. The new batch of faster flyers will really seem to fly in these jerseys. The Phlying P crest looks huge. I was already excited for this season after a great off season. Now they'll look stylish without betraying tradition. LET'S GO FLYERS!
To follow up on the last comment, who wants a black alternate jersey. you want your 3rd jersey to look really good, get your team and crowd pumped, and a black just wouldn't do that. If you wanna argue so many teams are switching to black, were not switching anything, were called the orange and the black for a reason.

It doesn't look to be the same template as Ottawa, it is similar I guess... but the angles of the color placement on the arms are different.
Horrible. Absolutely horrible. F Bettman, Reebok, and their G'D revenue streams.
Absolutely boring...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz/
You people are making me sick. There are hardly any changes at all, if anything they added MORE color and designs. Your old jerseys were boring and plain. Do a side by side of the old and new and you will see that it is a lot alike.
i really like these jerseys. they are different than any of the other jerseys released so far and they didn't go crazy with the design. GO FLYERS!
I love them! Not too crazy, maybe there could be a little more orange but its not overdoing it either. Lets hope there arent numbers on the front. But other than that im happy with it and im definitely buying one!
the tip of the iceberg is the orange around the nhl logo.
ugh.
damn the new jerseys look good...
GO FLYERS!
I think the uniform looks cheep and I would not say the changes are insignificant. I am a STH, and saw this page in the brochure. I personally won't be bying this....
As a long time Flyers fan (and STH), I'm glad that this jersey is simple and not overly uhm...busy shall we say like a lot of the other teams have done. I like how the orange is back on the jersey instead of the previous home jerseys that we've been wearing, yet it's not overbearing at all.
My only complaint with it is the orange peak around the NHL logo. I think that might be a bit much but it does highlight the crest up there well (which, if you ask me, shouldn't be there at all =P)
bang go's the flyers visual identity of individuality. Anyone suffering from colour blindness will find the new NHL confusing. What a load of crap.
BFD they changed their striping it still looks different than every other jersey that has come out
not a Flyers fan at all, but these are very nice. Simple and clean. Flyer fans who are negative give me a break. It could be a lot worse.
I love how everybody is like no numbers on the front, even though we won't know until an actual player wear's the jersey. My point is, the jerseys we are seeing have no numbers on them whatsoever, so we won't know until unveiling day.
Hey Flyers fans..
At least your not a Canuck fan :(
What the League is doing is disgusting, as a person who has in the past (happily) given the league countless amounts of my hard earned money in jerseys, tickets, hats, t-shirts, you name it, i have it with a Flyers logo on it. and now in 2 seasons they remove all the tredition and identity from the game. This year I will not be buying anything with a Flyers Logo on it.
I like it, but I don't love it. I'm in the group that would rather see an orange jersey rather than a black one, but I'm just glad they didn't do something stupid. I'm wondering what it would look like with the orange and white swapped on the sleeves.

I have a shocking confession! I am a diehard Flyers fan who hates the color orange. Therefore, I'm glad they stuck with black.
I don't know what people are complaining about. These new jerseys are very nice. I'm completely satisfied.
