UPDATE (9/4 1:29 PM): Hi guys! Sorry I had to close the comments for this post. Like the Blackhawks/Oilers poll, things were getting a little crazy. I don't mind your having an opinion. I mind your belittling the opinions of others. You know who I'm talking about. The logic of calling someone a liar for having an opinion is lost on me. Please continue voting, but the comments on this post will stay closed at least for a little while. (It's a close one!) Thanks for visiting!

canucks fan just found another way to get the rest of the nhl pissed off,i find it funny because people are taking this so seriously

When I started voting on this site, I was being totally unbiased in my votes. But since the 'nucks beat the Sharks, I decided to become a total homer. I will vote for the Oilers logo even though I know it is complete trash compared to the 'hawks and any other logo it may face in the next round(s). Cause if a bunch of 'nuck fans can totally turn a blind eye to a hideous logo, then I can turn one to a mediocre logo.

I have to agree, with this result, the site's lost all credibility. Up to this point I agreed with most of the results(except, of course, the Blackhawks/Oilers).

If this site's to retain any credibility in the future, they'll require membership to vote, and only allow one vote per user. Yeah, it's inconvenient, but it'll keep the 13 year old Canadians away.

Sep 3 · 10:33 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Why does that word keep coming up? When did my blog ever have any "credibility?" You make me laugh.

Now, let people vote how they want. For every guy voting 50 times for the Canucks, there's a guy out there voting 50 times for the Wings and you know it.

There's no such thing as one logo objectively being better than another. It's just not possible. So for anyone to think that the Red Wings is just objectively better is a mistake in judgment.

Everything is subject to opinion and that's why I've posted these polls. As I've said before, if you don't like it, I won't try to change your mind. You don't have to continue visiting my blog.

Enjoy your day off! (For those of you to whom that is relevant.) Thanks!

it's not about that Chris, some people are upset because Canucks fans are flooding the poll and voting for their team, NOT which logo is better. just look at how many extra votes it has over other polls.

now, sure you can say people can vote for their team if they want, but isn't this a logo tourney? why not just put the teams name in a box then and have people vote for their favorite team? i'm curious to see who people would vote to have the best logo, but i want it be be as fair as possible. and Canucks fans, Oilers and Senators fans are ruining this poll. btw, you can vote twice.. there's a trick to it but it can be done. so yes, there is cheating going on.

Sep 3 · 11:30 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I just like the red wings logo... its just cool, ya know. not to mention the history is has. btw I am not a wings fan.

go skarks

Sep 3 · 11:35 AM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

this is like the Rory Fitzpatrick fiasco. Canuck fans are good for a laugh at least.

Sep 3 · 12:31 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

to those people who think its always detroit they should win canucks are floodong the poles im a anaheim fan (stanley cup babey!!) but i think canucks logo is way better coming from another seperate team so thats my opinion dont think only canucks are voting

Sep 3 · 12:31 PM PDT | Unregistered Commenterstanley ducks

the canucks logo and color scheme is pretty sweet, but they could have had the best sweater of any team any sport if they went with the Johnny Canuck one I saw a few months ago. That sweater kicked azz

Sep 3 · 12:39 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Chris, you're a bit off base. See, there aren't actually the same number of ballot suffers for both teams. It's cool to like hockey in Canada so a young and immature demographic develops who are going to vote for their team despite what the prompt says. I'm sure the same would hold true for a Basketball poll done in the states with a team like the Lakers maintaining large margins.

You may not claim your site to have ever held any credibility but is that really something up to your discretion? You start with none, and build it, and at this point the site's lost any it's built concerning community contribution.

You're right about no logo being inherently better than other, but there are still grounds to debate. If I drew a line on a piece of paper, I could argue that it was the best logo ever created, but my argument would probably bear little substance. Yet, nobody could say definitively, that I was wrong.

I don't think I'll ever have a desire to visit this blog again with plenty of other sites showing the new jerseys. It's just a shame there were relatively easy measures that could've been taken to hold an interesting contest that would've bore some integrity.

Sep 3 · 1:07 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

It'd be nice to put a name to that last comment, but that's all right. I'm sorry to disappoint you and sad to see you go.

I'm also sorry to see this contest being taken so seriously still. I think I take it the most lightly of anyone who visits and I actually created it.

The idea that there's no "integrity" to the poll is silly because it's a judgment being made off the basis that the Wings logo is better than the Canucks. You seem to believe that whether you want to admit it or not.

Where integrity would lack is if I decided to limit who could vote. It's a poll open to the public at large — not just hockey fans. And if you think even a handful of "young and immature" Canadians are solely responsible for what you deem to be an abomination of some kind, consider that over 5,000 votes have been cast in just 30 hours. There are still six full days left to vote so judging so quickly doesn't seem right to me.

The other thing I ought to mention is the idea of voting numerous times. Which is silly. The system doesn't permit it that easily. I know a lot of people believe they are voting multiple times, but how easy do you think it would it be to confuse yourself voting again for someone else's vote being counted at the same time? Especially when almost 200 votes are being cast every hour.

I'm bothered by the idea that any "credibility" I might have built up, as you put it, could be so easily decimated by early results of a silly little poll. If anything, wouldn't a thought process of that nature be considered to be "immature?" I'm only asking.

Anyway, I know I can't make anyone visit the site, nor would I want to. I just wanted to take the opportunity to respond to your well thought out remarks. I appreciate what you have to say along with everyone else.

Thanks for the comments guys! I know some of you are unhappy, but whenever there are two sides, half the people will agree and half the people will disagree. It's the nature of people.

All I can say to those who staunchly believe the Red Wings should win is that you have six days to round up as many people as you can to vote the way you want them to. Good luck to all!

Sep 3 · 1:27 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterChris

I'm only calling a lack of integrity based indirectly on the results of this poll. In conjunction with the results of the Hawks/Oilers aged results, the lack of integrity spawns from how I assumed voting was handled, supported largely by these two results. Even if the two teams swapped history and logos the fact is that the two biggest upsets have been at the hands of expansion era Canadian teams.

I'm not asking you to limit who could vote, but how many times you let them (assuming you're able). By mentioning the 13 year olds and membership, I was trying to imply that if there was membership required to vote, and only one vote allowed per account, you wouldn't have as many people willing to ballot stuff. The kids could still vote, but the types that wouldn't bother to read the poll description would surely close the window when they saw registration was required.

I agree that making extremely rash comments may be a bit premature at this point, but remember we've also got the older Blackhawk vs. Oilers round with the similar results leading me to believe time may not be a factor after the first day.

I was only assuming how votes were handled based on what I read on various sites (one vote every 10 mintues), which I assume is dictated by the host in blogspot and not the blogger. If stuffing is really as hard as you say then I would have no problem, but one vote per user or IP would be ideal.

You nor the site lost any credibility, only the community (and thus, the poll). Like I said, there's other sites that unveil new jerseys to the public so I really see no reason to visit this blog. Not because it has no credibility, but because it doesn't provide anything not offered elsewhere (which would not be true had the poll been safeguarded against stuffing and provided accurate results).\

Keep in mind, this is all assuming voting multiple times is easier than you've said.

Sep 3 · 2:21 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterHans

Hi Hans! Seems we've narrowed down your beef to "ballot stuffing." That means I have good news for you. I can assure you and everyone else that no one is cheating.

The poll is not set up through Blogger. I use PollDaddy.com to create and monitor the polls you find here. (You'll notice the link within each poll box.)

The way each poll is configured, the service records the IP address where the vote originated and leaves a cookie on the user's computer. While the cookie can be easily deleted, the IP address is permanently blocked. A user would have to continually change his/her IP address to keep voting over and over — a task that, if one could even figure out, would be a waste of time in the truest sense.

If you read on a forum elsewhere that users can vote "every 10 minutes," that's a perfect example of what I just explained. A user thinks he's voting multiple times when in reality he is seeing someone else's vote get counted, believing it to be his own.

Truth be told, I've seen in other places people suggesting that they can vote once an hour or once a day. Well, you can't vote once an hour. And even if you could vote once a day, you get 8 votes maximum. That's hardly ballot-stuffing, if you ask me.

Anyway, I hope this clears up any issues you may have had with the voting. I also hope you'll continue to visit the site.

As a side note, can you point me to any of the sites you say have been covering the new uniform releases as well as I have? I've been taking pride in doing that well lately. :) And as far as unique content, who else posts fan-made uniform concepts (some of which are pretty cool, you have to admit) on a daily basis?

Thanks and have a fantastic day, Hans!

I'm not Red Wings fan, but camon, how can the canucks win this one? Vote without hat and with reason. The Red Wings log is the best of NHL. I hate the leafs too, but they lose too.

This isn't a serios competition

regards from Poland

Sep 3 · 3:01 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

just to say canadiens cant be mobbing the voting because canada has a population of 30 something million and 6 nhl teams but us alot more so unless all the west coast and east cost loves us its a pretty fair poll

Sep 3 · 3:41 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Calling Canucks fans immature children while complaining on a "for fun" blog is a little hypocritical. I am a little tired of the hockey elitists who think everything Original six is so amazing. It's a wheel with wings coming out of it? You may like it...and people may be attached to it but it is not a BETTER drawing or concept...it's an opinion poll and despite what YOU think not everyone worships the wings logo. I've read comments in this section from NON Canucks fans saying they like the Orca and colors better...so get over yourselves...and stop complaining about the poll and just enjoy it.

Sep 3 · 3:58 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Damn right! Just to clarify, I wasn't calling Canucks fans childish and neither was Hans. Anyway, right on about the whole enjoy yourselves thing. I couldn't agree more! Let's have some fun! Thanks for the comments!

Sep 3 · 4:06 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterChris

"It's a wheel with wings coming out of it?"

Yeah that may be true, but the wheel has significance.. it's a symbol of the Motor City, which is what Detroit is nicknamed. It relates to the city. What does an Orca have to do with Vancouver? And they stole the shape of the C from the Habs and just changed the colors. It's not an attractive logo. I don't get why people are voting for it.. I mean, looking at the Canucks history poll on the main page, Canucks fans are even voting it as one of their worst logos in their history. Another case of people voting for the team and not the logo. Shame on you Canucks fans.

Sep 3 · 4:28 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

the orca has to do with the city because orcas are found over vancouver and bc and are famous also its a c for canucks at lastly its haida but no more argument just vote what you think many ppl have diffrent opinions i like the buffalo logo but alot of ppl dont they say its a bufaslug i love ot though so everyone has diffrent opinions

Sep 3 · 5:15 PM PDT | Unregistered Commenternhlfan

"What does an Orca have to do with Vancouver?"

well the majority of orca whales are found around the northern pacific coast near B.C. and Alaska.
they're one of the most respected and loved animals in a city that's all about nature and the ocean. the orca whale is also commonly used in native art and on totem polls. I mean c'mon! the orca whale just SCREAMS WEST COAST and B.C!

"they stole the shape of the C from the Habs"

sorry, i wasn't aware that the montreal canadiens had a copyright on the letter 'C'. i guess from now on the alphabet should look like this: A B C©Montreal Canadiens D E F G...
that statement you made was byfar the stupidest thing i've ever heard...its just like saying that the red wings stole the idea for their logo from a car or tire company.
the canucks logo is actually quite nice and creative. they didn't just change the colors of the canadiens logo. the shape is nothing like theirs. its a cool logo showing an orca whale head breaking out of ice.

and finally... to all of you who say canucks fans are stuffing the ballots, i can't see how this is true. the site only allows you to vote once a day. and if it is possibile to cheat then i would think that this is in favour of the red wings. how is it possibile that vancouver with its population of one million is stuffing the ballots when the rest of canada hates them and everyone in america does too. think about it, for detroit there are going to be detrtoit fans/original six homers/canuck haters/and americans stuffing the ballots.

Sep 3 · 5:16 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

just a uestion who is the original six plz reply who are they? wat teams?

Sep 3 · 5:22 PM PDT | Unregistered Commenterc.a.n.u.c.k.f.a.n

You know, the Canucks downgraded their logo. The rink logo would've been nice, and probably even decent competition for the Wings, but the colorless logo? Nope. Doesn't do anything for me. I'm happy to see the Canucks go to their original colors (I loved the alternates last year!), but that orca looks like crap. Wings here all the way.

Sep 3 · 5:38 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Oh, and one more quick bit; I hope whoever asked about the original six is kidding.

Detroit, Chicago, New York Rangers, Boston, Toronto, and Montreal.

Sep 3 · 5:40 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Why do you hope they are kidding? Do you expect people to be born knowing who the original six are?

Sep 3 · 6:30 PM PDT | Unregistered CommenterSteve

This is rediculous. Its funny that the Canucks logo is beating the classic wings logo (probably one of the best in all pro sports)but isn't even winning a vote between best Vancouver logo of all time. Stop voting for them because you like the team. This tournament is not very credable. At this rate we'll have a champion like the Thrashers!
