CHL Unveiling Edge Jerseys

Good morning everyone! It's 09-09-09 at 9:09 AM. Won't happen again for another 100 years.
It's going to be an incredibly busy day here at Icethetics today. As you may have read, all 60 CHL teams will be officially launching their new Reebok Edge jerseys. Yes, it's incredibly annoying to have them all coming out on the same day but we'll manage.
Here's how it's going to work. I will be monitoring league and team web sites and as I find pictures, they will be posted on Twitter only! As the day goes on I plan to assemble all of the image links in this post for quick and easy access.
If you run across any good pictures throughout the day that you'd like to share, check that they haven't already been posted before you email them to me. It'll make things go a lot smoother on my end as I try and gather information from five dozen teams.
I appreciate your help on what is sure to be a ridiculous day.

The London Knights are holding a press conference at 1:30 to unveil their new uniforms. The jerseys will be available in the team store at 2:30 following the conference. Unfortunately the press conference is not open to the public, so images may take a while to trickle out.
The OHL website said that local Rogers TV stations will be broadcasting the unveiling ceremony at 11:00 AM EST. The site also claimed to have photos and video up by the early afternoon,
I have a feeling the Red Deer Rebels wont be showing one off today. Everytime I've asked them for information on the new jersey they haven't responded or for the people I knew in the office they said they didn't know and we might not see them until opening night (Next Friday).
My research says Saskatoon will do them at a ceremony at 3:30 your time Chris (or maybe it's 2:30 but don't worry about them until then).

Seattle will be at 1 your time

Swift Current will be at roughly 1

I might just have to go check the Rebels store later on...
My Cape Breton Screaming Eagles unveiled their jerseys already! I thought they were just going to copy off the Penguins like they have for some time now, but instead they have something very unique and I quite like it.

Also, the Halifax Mooseheads showed off their jerseys too. I really think its an improvement on a jersey that was just far too busy before, its calmed down a lot.

Have to wait a while for my hometown Soo Greyhounds unveiling, it's not until 6:30 PM Eastern time

I'm hopeful this "new look" isn't terrible, at least close to their current jerseys, but we'll have to see. Keep up the great work, Chris!
The Kamloops Blazers will be launching theirs at 10am
Rob, I just saw the new SOO Greyhounds jersey on the Rogers presentation that was mentioned in this post.
they stuck with the "old school, 4 stars, red and white" look. No need to worry.
Luckily my battalion didn't change their look either.
London, look out, there's a shocker of a change coming...dallas stars style.
other than subury and barrie, the looks haven't been dramatically changed for the most part. sagina's is my favorite by far.
uggghhh..... not pretty.

Kitchener keeps it classy..

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are my favorites so far.
Those are sharp !!!!
Jer, Dallas Stars style? As in wordmarks instead of logos on the unis?
Dallas style striping...thank god we have a logo though...i wanna see it on the ice before i give a verdict...but as for now...im REALLY iffy.

I LOVE the new Greyhounds jerseys, from what I can tell, seems to be a definite classic vibe with them! Whalers and Sting have some odd piping near the shoulders. I miss the classic Ottawa piping, at least it's still on the sleeves. Not feeling Sudbury's new jerseys at all though. Overall, not as horrible as I was expecting!
Striping on ottawa's jerseys, my bad*
The knights jersey appears to have a green arm stripe (instead of solid black) although it is hard to make out.
It is nice that the Attack got to keep their funky striping (whether or not you love it or hate it) and weren't made to be totally RBK'ed.
Also there are some really ugly jerseys in there - St Mikes, Niagara.
The 67's jerseys are not too different, but pretty sweet.
London definitely has dark green on the elbows, rather than solid black. I'll have to see them in person before I can make a final ruling. I'm still not sure why they made a logo switch, I think the now "old" logo would have worked perfectly with the Edge uniforms!
Really surprised the Erie Otters didn't keep their funky (and crappy) stripping. Almost looks like Florida though...
Chris, I think these new jerseys call for a quick old vs. new vote for each of the teams. Interesting to see what the breakdown would be.
Anyone else get a thrift store vibe from the new Soo? Cheap, sublimated, minor hockey look...
My breakdown:
Wins: Kingston, Kitchener, Oshawa, Brampton, Peterborough...anyone who kept it classic basically
Neutral: Saginaw, London, Brampton, Sudbury, Guelph, Owen Sound, Ottawa
FAIL: Plymouth (blue), Mississauga, Niagara, Sarnia, Soo, Erie, Barrie (white)
I might be the only one but i like the Majors look.
EVERY NEW DESIGN!!!!

The whole she-bang is here!
Okay, Brandon has disappointed me, but then, I knew it would. But how did Everett get away with keeping their mountains??? Someone must've coughed up big money for that! You can see Regina's looks pretty decent. I am going to miss that pewter colour in the Blades jersey, though; it was unique. Kamloops looks great! In the OHL, I'm SO glad the 67's keep their arm stripes (same for Chicoutimi in the Q, but to a lesser extent). Some of the best and the worst are in the QMJHL (LOVE Val D'or! Rouyn-Noranda is cool, too... surprised they got a "gradation" in a RBK jersey. Saint John Sea Dogs? What the hell happened here? Ugh.).
All in all, RBK did their thing. Some work, some old styles escaped unchanged, some went right to the dumpster. I'm looking forward to seeing how many WHL teams come up with their own 3rds (RBK won't make thirds for the CHL this year; it's up to the teams to commssion and make them).
Dal
Check out the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. The striping is awesome, they used a tree-line and the silver tips of mountains in the distance. I like it.
I'm checking everyones links above but I just bought the new Rebels jersey. Will be sending in pics to Chris shortly!
The more I see it, the more I like London's striping. Love the green elbows and even the new "old" logo looks good on it (hated it before)
Screaming Eagles are going to look good this year, same with Val D'or.
I don't care what anyone says, I lived in Erie for 4 years while going to college and these new jerseys, though not great (would've loved the color scheme of their thirds), it is TONS better than the 90's " I wanna look like a cartoon" (Mighty Ducks?) jerseys they were rocking before this.
The QMJHL is the league I follow so here are some first impressions...
- Bathurst and Baie-Comeau look too similar.
- Cape Breton improved the most. And that's hard for a Mooseheads fan to say.
- Chicoutimi shouldn't have introduced those damn apron strings to a classic sweater
- Wasn't a fan of Drummondville's before. The apron strings actually make them take a step backwards
- I like that Gatineau is daring to be different and going with Orange but not a huge fan of the design
- The Mooseheads didn't do a bad job. I like them better than the Halifax script jerseys they've been wearing the past few seasons. Those were too boring and baseballish for me.
- Lewiston: Wouldn't modeling their jerseys after the LA Kings be a better idea?
- Moncton comes in behind Cape Breton in the best looking category. Again, tough for a Mooseheads fan to say that.
- Montreal's jersey design is fine. It's the logo or lack there of that kills the sweater.
- I had high hopes for PEI. They let me down. Classic look without the 9 in the logo would have been awesome.
- Quebec hardly changed a thing. Good for them. Almost like the Mooseheads jerseys but look closely there are similarities, color being the obvious. BAT and B-C look more the same.
- Rimouski goes with something totally unique. Surprisingly, they're not terrible.
- Rouyn-Noranda: Waaaaay too busy.
- Saint John wins the least improved award. What the hell Sea Dogs? You had the best jerseys in the Q. The script on the bottom doesn't go with these at all.
- Shawinigan: What's the deal with the San Diego Chargers logo on the sleeves?
- Val-d'Or: I'd put these in the top 5 with CB, Mon, Hfx, and Que.
- Victoriaville: Like the gold color, it's something new. The design? Well if it ain't broke....
Brandon got screwed over so badly. Where's the wheat stripes? Boo to that.
Swift Current looks good though.
This is one of those times were you should put together a poll to decide the best new jersey in the three CHL leagues. This site isn't what it used to be...
Is it just me but wont the C's and A's look stupid on every one of these freaking jokes of a jersey? Some are good some are bad but I just hate this tailored look with just a handful of designs to choose from. I was told by the Swift Current Broncos they were given 6 desings to choose from and it shows in all 3 leagues.
Guelph Storm: Best of the bunch BY FAR
I can't believe they got rid of the Knights logo. The new (old) logo is ok, but the one from last season is one of the best logos in all of sports. I am upset with that. I also hate all the new age reebok templates.
simple and retro are the most liked. I hate the piping and the nont raditional look on some of the arms. and whyyy dont teams put horizintal stripes at the bottom. come on. reebok wuit pushing teams to change for the better of YOUR company
I'm glad that the a bunch of teams just opted to keep their jersey designs and Edgify them (ie. Edmonton, Red Deer, Kitchener, Brampton). While some of the updated looks look cool, a lot of them look awful (Mississauga or Rouyn-Noranda anyone?), while others just stole the designs of NHL teams that are currently popular (Windsor).
WINS: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, quebec remparts, rimouski oceanic, barrie colts, kingston, london knights, niagra icedogs, oshawa gens, soo greyhounds, windsor spitfires, medicine hat tigers, moose jaw warriors, seattle thunderbirds, red deer rebels, regina pats, spokane chiefs, gatineau olympiques
FAILS: missauga st mikes majors, sudbury wolves, brandon wheat kings, kootney ice, lethbridge hurricanes, prince george cougars, and many of the new jerseys in the Q
And whats with the chilliwack BRUINS, their uniforms look like the penguins jersey template
And to Ian's comment, i completly agree where are the wheat stripes on brandon's. thats what made their uniform so classic
and i completly agree with matt's comment what the hell happened to saint john' uniforms they were great and just took a step backward. they need the grey stripe and more classic striping.
finally what did sarnia do? they had a great unique look with the striping at the bottom and numbers there too and they took all that and threw it out the drain
Having looked through all teams and all three leagues, there is a simple design truth that becomes glaringly clear: the bad jerseys are still bad jerseys and the good jerseys are still good jerseys. Reebok/Edge doesn't change that.
I'm out West and I'll say the classics still work: Regina, Edmonton, Red, Deer, Brandon, Kamloops. The dogs are still dogs: Moose Jaw, Kelowna, Kootenay, Prince Albert. And stuck in the morass are the rest of them: Saskatoon, Lethbridge, Tri-Cities, et al.
love the retro look of the Soo Greyhounds, however the Logo is too small!
It's an orgy of new jerseys. You sabotaged my day, Chris. :p
I just saw the white Calgary Hitmen jersey, I think I threw up a little in my mouth...
A lot of them hit the nail on the head with their edge jerseys but a lot of them missed too. There's not too many in the middle jerseys, I neither like or dislike, either. I don't understand why I saw some jersey with the team name and city on the bottom of their jerseys, I think it ruined some of the jerseys that were not already terrible without it.
Anybody know if this means an end to the third jersey or do you think it will be like the NHL in a year or two the thirds maybe start to trickle in?
too many look like the sabres jersey... brutal
Reebok: ruining hockey jerseys one league.
The OHL isn't horrific. That's as best as I can say. Perhaps in time, with enough classic designs, I can grow to accept them...but certainly not here. Some teams look decent. Many look terrible. I don't know why RBK demands new designs with its sweaters...but maybe I can score a few older sweaters for cheap now
RBK ruined the Brandon Wheat Kings Im so disappointed.
It's too bad to see so many teams take a step down in uniform design. Calgary and Brandon are among the teams I think used to have nice jerseys, but now they are reduced to splotches of colour in random areas. Red Deer has moved up the ladder quite a bit simply because they weren't one of the many who took a step down, although that stupid Edge collar design with the fabric insert is an eyesore for all teams that have it. Why couldn't they have done what the Flames did with their collar on the new retro jersey?
