Sharks Announce 3rd Jersey Schedule
We're still months away from the start of the season, but the San Jose Sharks have already announced third jersey dates for the 2011-12 season. They'll wear it 15 times, all at home, mostly on Thursday nights.
The black sweater was launched in 2008 under the nickname BlackArmor during a brief sponsorship agreement with Seagate. The Sharks wore it for home games throughout their 2011 Stanley Cup playoff run.
Here's the new schedule from the team's official website:
- Thurs., Nov. 3 – vs Pittsburgh Penguins
- Thurs., Nov. 10 – vs. Minnesota Wild
- Thurs., Nov. 17 – vs. Detroit Red Wings
- Thurs., Dec. 1 – vs. Montreal Canadiens
- Thurs., Dec. 8 – vs. Dallas Stars
- Thurs., Dec. 15 – vs. Colorado Avalanche
- Fri., Dec. 23 – vs. Los Angeles Kings
- Thurs., Jan. 5 – vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
- Thurs., Jan. 19 – vs. Ottawa Senators
- Thurs., Feb. 2 – vs. Dallas Stars
- Fri., Feb. 10 – vs. Chicago Blackhawks
- Thurs., Mar. 1 – vs. Buffalo Sabres
- Thurs., Mar. 15 – vs. Nashville Predators
- Thurs., Mar. 22 – vs. Boston Bruins
- Sat., Apr. 7 – vs. Los Angeles Kings
The Kings and Stars will each face the Sharks in black for two of their three visits to San Jose. Five of the 15 games are against Eastern Conference foes.
Of course, as the team's website notes, the above schedule is subject to change. And not that you care, but in the odd case that you wanted a quick link back to the Sharks' 2010-11 third jersey schedule, here it is.

This is one of the sharpest jerseys in the league. Love it.
Hopefully Sat April 7 is the retirement game for this jersey. Sharks need an update for 2012-2013 for all 3 jerseys
Another one of the worst generic black uniforms in the league. No waistline hem stripes. The Sharks should just stick with their classic teal and call it a day. Only the full-body shark gives this jersey a little credibility.
@Geoff
I agree wholeheartedly. I'm a die-hard Sharks fan, and I want their current jerseys retired just like you said, after this season!!!!! Never liked the addition of orange, never liked the taking away of silver. Never really liked their home/away jerseys, but the 3rd one I liked initially, but not anymore. The home/away jerseys are too busy and clustered, while I feel that they could've added an additional waist stripe to the 3rd jersey. I do love the new primary logo, as well as the full-body shark. The wordmarks and secondary fin logo need refining.
Hopefully they can come up with something much more simpler, yet striking. I have the perfect idea in my head, but I totally suck at drawing and photoshop and what not. If only....
I think the third jersey for the Sharks should be the original Teal jersey's that was one of the best selling jersey's that I can remember.
Take the stupid number off of the front of it, add stripes (matching the arm stripes) to the bottom hem, lose the stupid RBK DIAPER hem and boom it's a awesome looking jersey
One of the better black sweaters in the league, but as was said above I'm hoping for a redesign for next year of all three uniforms. The home and away are really, really bad.
I like the colours, LOVE the logo, but the jersey needs to be stripier or something. The lack of a coloured collar and a waist stripe bugs me.
The logo is so great though. It is different from the primary logo but at first glance you may not notice that because it has the same basic shape.
Ugh. Nobody needs this.
The Sharks have one of the four jerseys in the league that aren't white, black, red or blue. Do they really need to wear black for more than a third of the games that could involve a teal jersey?
I own all 3, and they are now all out of date. What do other fans do when the name on the back isn't on the team anymore? Should I get the guy I know to rip the 6 and the Setoguchi and replace it with a 9 and Thornton? Should I rip both the 5's and the Eager off and replace it with two 8's and a Burns? Should I finally scrape the 7 and the Lukowich off and replace it with a 9 and a Couture? Either way you'll see one of those 3 jerseys worn by me in February when my Sharks visit T.O.
The need to fix the dorsal fin of the Shark on the 3rd jersey. It just doesn't look symetric with the body of the Shark.
I still hate that jersey. Unlike the person with the weird perversion of my name (sorry, but I never quite understood that spelling), I love the home and away jerseys. But their identity is built on bright color, and that uniform is just a bunch of incoherent elements on a color that's really just wrong for them.
They need to kill the black jerseys and never bring them back. If they must bring them back, they need to add a yoke and waist striping.
I certainly have no idea how they could ever be listed as "one of the best jerseys in the league". Above the Habs red, Rangers White, Boston Black, Hawks Red, Columbus Blue, Washington White, so on and so forth? To me, they're only a couple of notches above "SNES" and "Bolts".
I hope they lose whenever they wear it. Their primaries are so much better.
Agreed,, Lose it after April .. Its better up close,, but didint work for me on TV
i think its a solid jersey. i just think if theres no orange or any color not on the jersy, it shouldnt be on the pants or gloves either
The biggest mistake was deciding to wear their blacks for all of their playoff home games. That was a stupid decision to take away their most recognizable color from the playoffs.
Unfortunately, as long as Seagate continues to be a major sponsor, the "Black Amour" jersey will continue to be a marketing ploy so I don't see black thirds going away.
@Torontosharksfan
Lol I dont know what to tell you about a player that isnt with the team. My favorite Sharks player only played with them for 17 games in their first 2 seasons.
Why not bring in a Gray jersey to use? It would fit perfectly since a Shark is actually a grayish color
They have an extremely unique home teal jersey! I don't understand why they abandoned this during the playoffs; it could have been great exposure for their colours. I never liked their black sweaters, even if its the colour of their shark. Nashville took a page from the book of image and decided to stand out with their new homes... I think the Sharks should embrace the same!
Leave the black alts to Carolina (I think their 3rd jersey logo + home reds would be a dynamite combo... anyone want to concept that?)
I love the idea of a darker gray Shark's alternate jersey with white and teal stripes. That would look killer.
I think they should do it gray but still have a lot of teal to it. Do something different than the stripes though. I think it would look great with a "fin" logo as the main crest. I saw somewhere someone took the one that is on the SJ shoulder patch on the black alternate and took the Orange out of it and removed the top of the diamond and it looked killer!
Another idea is if Orange has to remain part of the colors used why not do an Orange alternate jersey? Orange with teal and a little gray or black might be able to look good if its the right design
Also bring back the original teal color to the home jersey. Heck maybe even do 2 different teal jersey designs for the home and the alternate?
Geoff,
My guess is that when San Jose decides to ride with the retro movement that seems to be the fad nowadays in the NHL, the original teal of the 90's will come back via a throwback alternate jersey.
Fans went a little crazy with the small inclusion of orange. All full-on orange jersey with a shark's patch would cause total pandemonium. As long as San Jose continues to hate the Ducks, an orange jersey would never fly.
Bring back the teal of the 90's!
Thanks for the info on the Orange. Im in Kansas CIty so I dont get too much info on how most of the Sharks fans feel. I saw a concept comewhere once of an Orange jersey that to me didnt look too bad. I am a little biased though since its my favorite color.
Would love to see a retro throwback jersey. Although I think they should have done it for this upcoming season and instead of using it as a third use them as the home and road .Maybe not do a full retro copy and change the colors in the stripes a little to make it just a little different than the orignals
I've always thought there is just too much going on in the Sharks jerseys. They need to be more simple. This black jersey is more simple than their regular set but the number on the front and the font style they use makes it look like it was designed by a child. The logo is awesome, start with that and re-do the jerseys.
Well, before we start thinking about revamped jerseys, which I think need tweaking, especially with the pipeline, maybe the Sharks brass should try and retire the orange back to it's original place as trim/accent color. They tried during the playoffs last season to use get fans to wear the orange t-shirts as apparently the Sharks colors are Teal, Burnt Orange, Black and White. It was in that order on the Sharks official website last season. I'm (somewhat) over the orange being in the uniform, but please keep the colors Teal and Black - let's not become the Miami Marlins. :)
Next to the Islanders primary jerseys, this is my favorite in the entire NHL. Should be the Sharks primary home jersey, not an alternate.
@Cord,
I take it that you don't like teal. Sorry, no disrespect, but those black garbage bags have to go. Teal is the Sharks' identity just as much as orange is the Flyers' identity.
