AJHL Celebrates 50 Seasons

Hey, let's keep this streak of new daily blog posts going. The AJHL, or Alberta Junior Hockey League, unveiled its 50th anniversary logo on Monday. The league has all sorts of plans for celebrating the occasion, which you can read about here.

Looks like they ripped off the bottom portion of the CBJ logo and tweaked it just enough.

No offense, but most of us don't care about junior hockey. I'm willing to hear news about the CHL, SPHL, ECHL, AHL, and NHL. But not some junior league in Canada that most people here in the states have never heard of.

Greg: Nothing offensive about it. I appreciate your input, but I don't cater strictly to you or "people here in the states." Half of my audience is Canadian. And not to be too flip, but this blog is about pretty much whatever I want it to be about, isn't it?

It's hockey. And it's a new logo. That makes it relevant. What else should I have posted today?

Any hockey logo and uniform news is fitting news on this site, in my opinion.

Not a bad logo.

Of course you can put anything on here, but I'm also entitled to my own opinion. I'm sorry and maybe Canadians love their junior hockey, but most people I know (in the States) would rather spend their money on something that's a higher caliber than watching all star high school/college kids. I can't speak for the people of Canada obviously.

Greg: Junior hockey is huge in Canada. And in a country where people love the game, it's not a question of money. When there's great hockey being played, you go see it. If $12 to see the potential future of the NHL puts you out, then you're right, it's probably not for you.

And I'm glad you feel entitled.

Quick perspective:

In many smaller areas junior hockey is as important as high school football is to some american towns.

The Surrey Eagles of the BCHL may not be a huge draw but I've been to their games, and if something major happened in that league I'd be happy to see Chris report on it, as I would if a equal level league anywhere did.

That's one of the great things about this site, finding out details not just from the NHL or IceHL but other teams and other levels as well.
