Blues Unveil New Uniforms!

The St. Louis Blues officially unveiled their new Rbk EDGE uniforms at FANfest this morning. Check out photos.

As I said yesterday when we first saw photos, I love the shoulder design on these sweaters. Unlike some people, also, I don't mind that there are no horizontal stripes at the bottom of most of these uniforms. I think they look great — especially on the ice.

Even the road jerseys look pretty sharp, and I haven't really loved most of the white jerseys that have been unveiled to this point.

It'd be nice to see how they look on the players in full padding because it can only improve an already excellent design. If you ask me — and I know no one is — the Blues definitely got it right.

Wish I could say the same about the Islanders.

The Blues' online photo gallery of the new sweaters didn't include a lot of close-ups, but here's one I like.

The numbering and lettering text on the jerseys remain the same. Check out Doug Weight modeling the new duds.

Some people have expressed concern over how longer names will look on the back of the sweater. The issue is the yellow piping extending down the back which we really haven't seen on many other new jerseys.

Anyway, I know most of you have already commented on these jerseys in previous posts, but for everyone else, here's your shot. We'd love to hear what you think.

UPDATE (8:26 PM): I was emailed an action shot from a Blues fan who was at FANfest today. I guess some of the players took part in a scrimmage. This photo gives us an idea of how the jerseys will look over the gear. The answer is spectacular.

I'm a Lightning fan and I'm jealous.

Sabres, Coyotes And Blues On Deck

Oh and as if it weren't enough that the Thrashers, Flyers, Stars and Blackhawks unveiled their jerseys and the Blues started selling theirs (prior to the unveiling I might add), there's still more news. Not huge, but worth posting anyway.

The Buffalo Sabres have acknowledged their new Rbk EDGE uniforms on their official web site. See the graphic.

So there that is. Incidentally, the AP released this photo of Ryan Miller being photographed in said uniform. Solid, mostly unchanged.

So we move on to Phoenix where their web guy isn't even trying. I'm sorry, but really? A giant Rbk Hockey logo?

Tease us with a little logo embroidery like everybody else or something. Oh, that reminds me.

The Blues will probably be second as the Coyotes will launch their new threads at 11 AM. The Blues come about 30 minutes later. Anyway, that's what I was talking about with the whole logo embroidery teaser thing. It's fun. But teased we need not be. The Blues started selling replica jerseys today so we won't be surprised tomorrow.

Quite frankly, it's one of my favorites of the new crop. Those shoulders are nice. I wish more teams had tried something like that. This particular image was provided to us by Brad at St. Louis Game Time.

Anyway, I've got one more item as a special bonus for those of you who made it this far through the post. We've got another picture of the New York Rangers' new Rbk EDGE sweaters.

Check it out. Chris Drury is modeling the new home sweater for a camera. I don't know where this photo came from though. It was simply emailed to me. But we've seen the jerseys before. It's the same.

Enjoy your Friday night now, and don't spend too much time on the computer!

Early Photos Of New Blues Jersey!

Courtesy of my friends over at The Checking Line, we have photographs of replicas of the St. Louis Blues' new Rbk EDGE uniforms. The actual unveiling by the team will come tomorrow at FANfest.

The new jerseys look sharp! I'm a huge fan of the shoulders. I wouldn't be surprised if the Blues make off with one of the best new Reebok designs here. Quite impressive.

Keep in mind that these images are replicas and not authentics so if the material doesn't look quite right, that's why. But as for the overall design, expect to see just that on the authentics.

We'll likely see Blues players modeling them at FANfest tomorrow. I'll have pictures posted from that event when I can.

Here's the back of the road sweater. I think the nameplate and the numbers are a little too close together here but that may have to do with the fact that's it's a replica.

Overall, I like it. And if I were the kind of person who could reconcile giving money to a team other than my Lightning, I might actually buy the home sweater. What do you guys think?

EA Unlocks Unreleased Jerseys?

Got several emails today about EA Sports' NHL 08 which was released this week. We kept hearing an unlock code would be provided for the new Rbk EDGE uniforms.

Apparently, that code was released today, supposedly unlocking all of the uniforms in the game. Here to the left you can see the unlock code available at official Rbk EDGE web site.

I've seen screen grabs for only a handful of team jerseys so I don't know that they're necessarily all available at this point. (Someone correct me if needed.)

The teams I've seen via stills from email and around the web are the Thrashers, Sharks, Coyotes, Stars, Oilers, Blackhawks, and Blues. And while they are from video games (which you know I'm opposed to), I'll post a few here just for fun. I'm still going to wait for teams to show off the uniforms themselves to count it as an "official" unveiling.

Many Thrashers fans may be happy to see the "ATLANTA" retained on the left sleeve of the home jersey. Of course, I'm just guessing it's there since we can't actually see it.

The Blues and Sharks sweaters look nice — if not like they've been swapped. I like the sholders of the Blues sweater and the striping on the Sharks.

And the conservatives among you will probably like the fact that nothing much has changed for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Just remember that while there's no reason to doubt the designs here are accurate, I won't call them "official" until we see it from the team or the league. That's just how I roll.

Thanks for all the emails on the subject, everybody! I'll try and get some more images up later on.

UPDATE (12:36 PM): Here's a great photo gallery featuring all the new AHL and NHL sweaters. Enjoy!

Kariya's New Blue Pants

This isn't earth-shattering news, but a new photo has been floating around of Paul Kariya practicing in St. Louis Blues gear. Blues fans might be interested in checking out this photo.

While he's wearing the Blues' practice jersey, he's got on what appears to be the new pants. I don't know, make of it what you will. It's pretty blurry. My favorite thing about this photo is the giant "BS" on the boards behind him.

Anyhow, seeing as I'm here talking about the Blues anyway, I've got a concept design for you.

This is a recoloring of the Columbus Blue Jackets' new EDGE uniforms. For what it's worth, I highly doubt the new Blues jersey will look anything like this.

We saw one image last month that appears to be a photo of the jersey. But it doesn't have the ring of truth to me. You be the judge.

Either way, we'll find out at FanFest on Saturday, September 15 when the St. Louis Blues will unveil their new Rbk EDGE uniforms to the public. Looking forward to that.
