Canucks Unveil New Colors, Uniforms!

That "Vancouver" across the chest just looks brutal. If they wanted to pay homage to the original WHL Vancouver Canucks, then why not ditch the "Orca Bay" logo and bring back the "Johnny Canuck" (the hockey playing lumberjack) logo? The only thing nice about these jerseys is the return to aqua-marine and green. But everything else...Bleh!
The Canucks had such a fantastic opportunity to make things right. That whale HAS to go. The VANCOUVER lettering compounds the problem.
They should have consulted the fans in the first place. The Johnny Canuck logo, a la Luongo's mask, would have been great.
The moment they were released texts from friends across Canada came in, mocking the Canucks.
The Canucks should suck it up - given the negative reaction - and make some changes. The fans deserve better than this.

Has anybody noticed that the main logo does not contain the same colours as the uniform? I don't see any green in the logo or any grey in the jersey.... what a disaster.

to me, logo and jersey design has taken a serious hit in the last couple years. they should have went back to yellow and black. they experinced the most success with that scheme.
Looks like a collegial hockey jersey to me.
Ok guys at first I hated the horizontal stripes, but then I read this on the home page of canucks.com
"CANADIAN HERITAGE: (points to stripes) classic horizontal stripes honour our great history. We are Canadians, and we made this game"
Ok now I love the stripes. I love the "fuck the US and their RBK look" attitude.
Word Vancouver, although a tribute to the cup winning Millionaires, if far too large. I can't stand it, but I love the rest.
REAL creative. Combined two previous Canucks jerseys into one and wrote "Vancouver" on top. I own every other Canucks jersey... not buying this one.
New jersey haa its still the same stupid whale. Everyone is going to run out & buy one yaaa right.
I'll give Vancouver credit. Nobody does UGLY like the Canucks organization.

I heard a rumour that the whites are going to be the home jerseys again starting this year. Can anyone confirm this?
Not so bad. I'm born and bred in Vancouver and I like how it's a mix of retro and current. The "Vancouver" on the chest isn't that bad. At least it'll tell stupid moron fans who don't know where we're from, where the Cup is going to end up. They're my team, I support them and will buy a new jersey.
P.S. - There was this much uproar when they went to the Orca. You'll all get over it sooner or later.
I'm a fan. Good design, cool colors, always liked the logo. Putting VANCOUVER over the chest is okay by me; I don't think it matters either way. I guess it makes it look kind of old-school if anything. The 'Nucks aren't my team, but I am a fan of them. Better colors than the last set. Way better than the old German flag color scheme and unis.
I like it...very traditional without all the business of piping and nike-ness. I agree the "vancouver" block across the top is unnecessary but all in all I really dig it. It is unique now in that nobody has this color combination...let's hope it lasts more than 5 seasons.
I'm a diehard Canucks fan, and I guess I don't mind it, but I'd rather have it without the word mark, or if the word was contained in a circle or something, with the Orca.
PS . . . No offence Chris, but I think the thumbnail for the background on the 'Nucks logo shouldn't be green . . . it should go with the logo, like all the others.

If anything is wrong with that jersey its that they kept the orca logo, one of the worst logo's in the league.
The wordmark above the logo is, in my opinion, beautiful.

The only thing wrong is that huge-ass VANCOUVER. Which, unfortunately, is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very wrong.

An NHL logo, a wordmark, and an Orca logo. How much crap do you need on your chest?
Why not add the shoelaces and player number to it and call it a day?
Please god, no "PHILADELPHIA" above the Flyers logo when their uniform is finally made public!

Hideous!!! I'm just jealous of that 3rd grade designer who pocketed 1 million bucks from the Canucks. Just look at the jerseys from a distance and you can't tell what is going on...no contrast at all. Should have kept the colours but updated the 70's striping. And the logo's colours don't match the jerseys!!! Bad sign when a simple navy t-shirt with your logo on it looks 100 times better than an actual jersey. Not buying one till they take "Vancouver" off, or shrink it. Poor Naslund and the other Assistant C's will look the worst.
These things look like some cheap knock-off you'd find on the clearance rack at Zellers. Other than that, great job, guys.
