I would have something to say in reply if only you had managed to compose a cogent sentence.
oh my god.
you people are way to competitive.
its just a little blog contest
for the logos. its not like you'll
win anything special. like whoa.
get over yourselves already.
"but never have i heard anyone say their logo or uniforms were nice."
Do you live in a cave, or just don't get electric up there in your part of canada?
I look at the Oilers logo and all I can think of is Under-alls pantyhose, Lee nail charms, and Pet Rocks.
Plaster that logo to the side of an AMC Pacer and you've got a great look!
Gosh, i don't know where to start lol. Im so sick of some people saying that the oilers are pretty much rigging the contest. Guess what we just love the logo its not that hard to understand. I also believe the blackhawk logo is to busy and not what i like.
(Whoever said this: Do you live in a cave, or just don't get electric up there in your part of canada?)
-I hate when people say stupid things about canada there is no need to do that at all.
I have an Oilers logo sticker on my CB radio.
Keep on truckin'!
Here's the deal
On every teams messgae boards there are fans talking about this contest. Not only the Hawks and Oilers ALL TEAMS!!!
If you went to both the Oilers message board and the Hawks you would see that fans for both teams are voting as much as they can and it has nothing to do with the logo it all has to do with the team. This is true or all teams. Sadly the Hawks fan base is dismal these days and there is no way they can keep up with such a huge Oilers fan base.
So in reality wether we want to buck up to it or not is the fact this is a contest of fan numbers.
we can all be thankfull though that the Leafs were eliminated first round hahahahaha and that is based purely on the fact that even though the fan base is huge there are more of us that hate them.
What happened to Chief Black Hawk pretty much sums up how all natives got screwed over by the US Gov.
To be perfectly honest anybody who thinks this jersey and name is not an insult really badly needs to actually read about Chief Black Hawk and the Sauk peoples.
" The next day, August 2, 1832, the soldiers caught up with the Sauk. In what became known as the Bad Axe Massacre, the soldiers killed dozens of the Sauk including women, children and the elderly. Those who made it across the Mississippi were killed by the Sioux, who had joined the Americans. Of the 500 Sauk with Black Hawk, only about 150 survived. The Black Hawk war, now virtually over, had cost the lives of 72 whites and between 450 and 600 Native Americans.
Black Hawk was one of the survivors. He was eventually forced to surrender with his friend, White Cloud, of the Winnebago's. They were sent to the east and were paraded through the eastern cities like captured animals."
Thats a sample.
Sorry I agree the hawks logo is better but morally it's disgusting especially because it's in the state of Illinois where Black Hawk lost his land and his people!
Little do you people know that the reason the oilers have their name is because of the petroleum industry in Alberta. Surrounding reserves and lands around Edmonton are the reason why the Edmonton Oilers exist (oil boom in 70's and 80's....I am from oil rich Hobbema). So this chief argument, along with it's accentuation around an "actual" chief really doesn't strike a chord. Being of first nation descent I say the native backround thing has no play in this debacle. This is merely about the aesthetic and look of the jersey itself. I agree the chief stands out with chicago but as a logo the oilers colour scheme and crest spark much more for the eye than the blackhawks. If you must use the chief card then go to a powwow and see how many outfits of dancers follow the blackhawks colour scheme and notice the flocks/droves of natives using oilers colours. Now we can smoke the pipe...there are no longer anymore lies between us. One me.....nothing blackhawks support

Your argument is void of any logic. You copied and pasted part of a biography you found on the web, and then used that as a reason why the Hawks logo is morally disgusting. Because this man was endured injustice in his life does that mean he should be forgotten? And it's funny how you took the part of the biography and ended it where you did. Because if you let it go on a little further, here's how it would have read:
They were sent to the east and were paraded through the eastern cities like captured animals. The public , however, greeted him, "as a brave, romantic symbol of the wild frontier and treated him like a hero."
Again, you're campaigning for the Oilers logo simply because you're an Oiler fan. Your argument was senseless.

Wow... I didn't realize a depiction of BLACK HAWK wasn't honoring him but rather a group of militia, vigilantes and hostile tribesmen!
What an incredibly ignorant statement.
Hey Chris, are you just editing the offensive comments from south of the border or does ignorance from Canada on behalf of your beloved Oilers suit your poll's purpose?
Actually, everyone knows why the Oilers are the Oilers. The mere name begs for an explanation, which is very easy to find.
I voted for the 'hawks. You can say what you want about the whys and hows, but it's a truly beautiful and powerful emblem. The colors wouldn't work in any other way, but in that logo they are necessary and perfect.
