still think Boston and St. Louis shouldn't be in, but its all on the votes. i think the biggest one to watch right now is the sharks and avs. but as a caps fan, W-eagle all the way!
Why does everyone love a musical note so much? There's nothing special or creative about it.
@matt I fins the appeal in Blues logo is is it's aesthetic simplicity. It aptly and somewhat creatively conveys the image of the Blues in the one of the simplest logos in the league. Which already puts it nuch higher on people's list that many of the complex convuleted logos that exist out there today.
Also, on a side note I absolutely hate the Johnny Canuch 'V' logo. While I would love to see Vancouver institute a priamry logo involving Mr, Canuck, this one was simply not the way to go. Maybe something like the design that Luongo has on his helmet would be a little nicer.
Mind trip.
I keep looking at the Islanders stripes and mistaking the logo to be off kilter.
The Johnny Canuck V logo reminds me of the Vachon cakes chef in a V logo. Actually, I'm surprised Vachon have not made more of a fuss about it.
Although, I do not believe that Vachon uses that logo anymore.
This tourney really highlights some of the idiotic shoulder logos out there. That Dallas logo is a hot mess, as is the Thrashers logo, and the Islanders is more of a decoration than a logo.
That being said, the Weagle is good enough to be a primary.
i agree MRC, the caps need a third jersey in blue with the w-eagle. i personaly like the dallas logo, and the canucks v. but the thrashers, islanders, and wild all need a change.
if St louis or Boston win this tourney i'm going too be angry
Everyone needs to cool it about the Boston and St. Louis logo's. At the end of the day is it a big deal who wins this?
i don't understand why everyone hates the thrashers secondary....its simple, sharp, and has the best color scheme in the league IMO. its way better than the primary and the old dark with it on the front was one of the best jerseys in the league at the time
actually moosey, yes. this is a secondard logo tourney. the blues and bruins use the same logo as their primary. so myself and many other believe they shouldn't win. now is the home bruin shoulder logo was in, i would vote for it, because its different than the primary. but thats my thought. to each his own i guess.
I agree with DANLZZZ...I personally love the Thrashers shoulder logo. I wish they'd replace their whirlwind bird logo with it...it would really look sharp on the light blue (or if they brought back the navy). It does a great job of representing the team name (Thrashers, a bird), the first initial (T built right into it), and that it's a hockey club (2 sticks on the inside), all while using a very simplistic, yet appealing and modern, design. I don't see how people could hate on it, but I also don't see how people voted for wordmarks like "Dallas" and "Colorado" in the other tournament over actual logos.
How is the sabres B gettin beat, i love that logo
what I don't understand is how the Hurricanes are losing to the Coyotes. I'm not biased because i'm a Caniac, but i really think that the logo is better than the pawprint.
i also agree with DANGLZZZ the thrashers secondary is awesome and should be used as their primary
the hurricanes logo is of a tropical storm warning flag not a hurricane... the paw print is awesome... The Panthers Sun/hockey stick/Palm tree is sooo bad ass and so speaks of south florida
glad to hear i'm not the only fan of that logo...now then, why on earth is it losing to the monstrosity that is that panthers secondary?!?!?!?!
My finals prediction- Weagle vs. Johnny Canuck. Which would you vote for?
thrashers are probably only losing because everyone wants to be in the bandwagon on hating the thrashers.
and GLEN the weagle and Johnny Canuck can't be in the finals against each other for they are in the same group, but i think the finals will be one of them vs. the kings or sharks.
The Weagle sucks actually.
I think that the finals should be Sabres vs. Canes. Carolina's and Buffalo"s logos are so underated. Obviously half of you dont even understand what the hurricanes logo is. Give it more credit cause it should be beating the coyotes. Also, the sabres is so simple, a B with a sabre through it. Hurricanes for first place and sabres for second. Maybe the Caps and blackhawks eliminated in the semis.
How can the Sabres logo be losing to the hawks logo? and im a leafs fan!
Slam,
I have to disagree with the comparison between the Johnny Canuck V and the Vachon Cakes logo. Yes, there is some resemblence, but there are more differences. The colours are different, the designs of both Vs are different, and only Johnny Canuck's head is present, not his upper body and arm. The Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Redskin logos have a lot more resemblence. Furthermore, Vachon Cakes is not a sports enterprise and is not as well known as other food brands. The idea behind the JC V was too combine the history of hockey in Vancouver(the Millionaires' V and Johnny Canuck).
The Weagle is fine, but over the Ottawa "O"? I think not.
dude andre, theres no way you can tell me those two logos aren't extremely similar, all the way up to the tilt of the head....no one said they look exactly alike...and while i'm at it, there really isn't anything special about that logo; i'm sure it will win b/c of all the vancouver bias, but there's really nothing creative about a head on a V...
@Matt....the blues logo is actually pretty creative....it's a musical note to represent the blues part of the name but it also has wings to represent "Saint" Louis....
One of the things I've always found fascinating about watching Canucks games on TV is seeing the MASSIVE mosaic of different (colors, logos, etc..) jerseys that the fans are wearing in the stands. Now, compare that to Toronto (blue/white with Leafs logo) or Montreal (bleu/blanc/rouge with the historic CH) and it becomes evident that the Canucks have never had a consistent identity, look, or even color scheme for more than a few years at a time. I was in Vancouver a few years back and bought the Orca (dark, pre edge cut in 2007) but was disappointed when I found that the following year they were switching up their colors yet again. It must be nice to live in a place like Montreal or Toronto where, regardless of the year in which you bought a jersey, the team colors and logos are still relevant to the team. Long story short, the Canucks MUST choose a logo and STICK (no pun to the 'stick in rink' logo) with it! In my opinion, the Johnny Canuck V-head looks sharp and could be their primary whilst the stick in rink logo works for the secondary. Eliminating the Orca should be the primary concern before any talk of a new primary pops up.
nicely put nev, i have always noticed that. im a caps fan, and when the caps wore the black jerseys, the fans who had the old red, white, and blue jerseys stuck out. but now the fans wearing black stick out. i hope they stay with the red, white, and blue but please add a third with the weagle on the chest.
Not a lot of standouts here... the Islanders' secondary is cool if you know what it means.
Group A is weaker than Group B, in my opinion.
I don't like that the Bruins and Blues are in here either, but all you can do is just vote for their opposition and get them knocked out.
Anyone else see the sunglasses on the lion in the Kings logo?
Go Sharks!!!!!
How are the Sharks beating the Avs? It's the exact same logo, just with a fin added. The Avs' at least has some semblance of originality. Good colors. Simple enough to draw yet complex enough that it's not just a couple lines (Islanders) or the exact same/Very similar logo to a different color (Bruins/Sharks). I'm not saying that it's a bad logo, but it's practically like voting for the Sharks primary.
I'm kinda pissed at Atlanta for taking all of our (chicago's) players but the Thrashers logo is actually pretty cool. I don't know why its losing.
The Weagle is almost mindblowingly clever (at least in my opinion) once you realize the outline of the capitol building in the bottom part.
And yeah, add me to the list who doesn't understand why the Thrashers logo isn't winning.
"The Weagle is almost mindblowingly clever (at least in my opinion) once you realize the outline of the capitol building in the bottom part."
besides the fact that it's copied!! haha.. ITs sick sick though! I love it.
and that panthers logo sucks compared to the thrashers.. wtf?
My last post is suppose to say "still sick"... not "sick sick". haaha
The Islanders' shoulder patch is traditional, simple, classy and is a great homage to the team from the 80s winning four straight Cups. It may be more simple than a lot of these teams that came in during the 2000s but Montreal and Toronto Jerseys are favorites among fans because of their simplicity and tradition. I've never seen such a big deal made out of adding two stripes to your jersey lol. And lets not forget the Isles had those fishstick jerseys and used to have a lighthouse on their shoulder that was hideous and cartoony. I applaud them for listening to their fan-base and going with traditional, regal-looking jerseys this year and sticking with a simple shoulder patch.
prsonally, i'm voting on what would look best on a shoulder, not the overall best logo.
@ JONESY I agree...some of these logos are less attractive logos in general, but look far better on a shoulder patch. In my opinion, the TBL logo with the florida out line isn't that good, but it looks fantastic on a shoulder!
I dunno, I just can't get into the shoulder patches. I think jerseys look much cleaner without them.
the leafs secondary logo should be inlcuded in this tournment.
@HOLLYWOOD69
@HOLLYWOOD69
This tourney is for 09-10 logos, the leafs are using this in 2010-11.
The difference is the blue on the bluenote is lighter on the away jerseys so the call it a secondary logo
still not happy that st louis and boston are winning, but hopefully they will be knocked out next round. and the whole thing about the weagle being stolen is bull. that moron sent his idea to washington without copy writing it. thats his own fault that this "idea" turned into the best logo in the league.
@HOLLYWOOD Not the best logo in the league...
unfortunate that the sens and caps met up so early, i think they both have solid logos.
