Group B

Tournament Notes A rarity in Icethetics logo tournaments occurred last week as no logo won more than 70% of the vote in head-to-head competition, keeping the standings pretty even. ... The widest margin of victory went to the Capitals with 69%.

First voter. Voted against Boston and St Louis because I still think that they deserve no place here.
Why does the Canes-Caps poll say Blackhawks and Predators in the poll?
The Capitals vs. Hurricanes logos are mistakenly pared up with an extra set of voting options for the Blackhawks and Predators.. I'm assuming they're matched up like the rest but just a heads up.
Love this blog!
That Thrashers "T" is simply the worst logo ever. Seriously, that team needs to blow its whole identity up and start over.
i dont think that teams primary logos that are used as secondary logos on alternate jerseys should be elgible for this ie bruins and blues. also the blues 1 did just win #1 logo so they could win again
I'm still not crazy about the Blues logo. I think it should come down to Chicago and Columbus. I personally love Columbus's jerseys.
Oops. Not sure what happened there with the Caps-Canes poll. I think I've fixed it now. Should be displaying correctly.
I don't agree with the use of St. Louis or Boston primaries either, but I sure as hell am NOT voting for that holdover from the "revamped-for-the-90s" Sabres era. Unfortunately we didn't get a choice with St. Louis, but the Bruins logo could've been voted down in favor of a "true" secondary.
I approached this polll by asking myself what logos what the best potential to become primaries. My answer is Vancouver and Washington
I agree with all the people that think that St. Louis and Boston do not deserve to be in this poll !
If they didn't deserve to be in the poll, then they shouldn't have been voted in, in the first place.
Bluenote all the way! Just for all those complaining
With the majority on all of them.
That Islander/Thrasher matchup is horrendous. Is there a 3rd option!!
I voted for the Blues and Bruins logo's because they do act as secondary jerseys and they are better than the logos they are up against. The fact you people are that adamant about a meaningless poll is hysterical and somewhat pathetic.
I've always hated logos in the circle but Minny's is actually good and I think it's because WILD comes out of the circle. Anyone else think the same?
I don't understand how people can vote for that atrocious Chicago logo. It looks like something a kid painted, while both his arms were in a cast. Its too simple, but not in a good, slick way like the Islanders logo, this one is simple in a blobby, awkward way.
i'm against cartoony logos (avalanche yeti foot) and 3D logos (the sabre in the sabres logo).
they should have clean lines.
the nashville one looks really cool, but it's just way too detailed... how is a kid supposed to draw his favourite team's logo if it's that detailed?
haha group B logos are much better than group A logos.
After the weagle, i like the yeti foot. but i think the blue jackets will take them this round. and even though the islanders is so simply, it works. but i like the thrashers to take this one.
i agree with the disagreements on the blues and bruins. and i'm a blues fan.
a secondary (shoulder logo) shouldn't have anything to do with a primary logo. i think it should be something you would never want as a primary logo! it should have something to do with the uniqueness of the team (its mascot) or its history or its location.
best secondary logos: islanders (for what it means historically), preds (it just screams - HEY, this is why we are called the preds! - though i could do without the circle and team name on it), avalanche (i'm almost certain they were the first team to go "out there" with their shoulder patch. someone wanna research that? **phoenix copied them)
i don't get the vancouver thing. but i'm not a canuck.
i'd like the kings and 'canes, but i think they have used them also as jersey logos, so nevermind.
Hi all, just trying out my new MacBook, and the first site I visited was Icethetics.
How is that piece of sh*t Avs logo beating the Blue Jackets' one? It's a hairy foot! How stupid ARE Colorado's owners/marketing people/logo desginers?
JEKABS I agree with you 100%, that logo is awful.
STEFAN I agree with you 100%, that logo is also awful.
Voted for Blues and Bruins because they were better looking designed logos, which is the point of the contest.
Blues have the best logo in the league IMO, and apparently everyone on this site thought so too, so voting against it just to make a point is kind of pointless. Regardless, the Sharks alternate is nearly identical to its primary, so by that rationale it isn't really original either. Black on black with black highlights. Real creative.
i have to disagree. i like the avs logo. its simply but yet everyone knows what it means. i like the avs primary logo as well, i would like to see them put the two together some how
Victobal has just made one of the best points i have ever heard in my entire life
JEKABS its a c (for chicago) and tomohawks. it perfectly represents the team city and name, while keeping the simplicity of a shoulder logo.
and STEFAN its a good shoulder logo, that suits the teams identity. for a team who's logo is a mountain made to look like soft serve ice cream, doesnt a cartoon depiction of big foot work?
Just because a logo has a good meaning behind it, that doesn't make it a good logo. It has to look good too, and some of these like chitcago and colorado are not good looking.
Although I am a Sharks Fan and happen to really like the full body Shark logo, I think the Kings logo is probably the best in Group A (with the Sharks of course). Even though it was their primary logo some years ago. I am pretty sure the Weagle will win Group B, which isn't a bad thing, but I really think the Senators 'O' would also be deserving. It's simple yet visually appealing. In all I still predict the Weagle will win the tournament.
I like the Thrashers logo... I don't know why so many people hate it... smh
I love that Atlanta logo. I wish they had kept their old colors with the maroon and yellow instead of this powder blue ensemble they're using these days.
I really like the Ottawa logo, simple is sometimes best. My favorite is Johnny Canuck, but I am a biased Canuck fan. I think they have the best colors in the league but the birthing whale has to go. The Johnny Canuck V would make a great primary.
On the Dallas logo, it looks like the star is holding a phone.
Agreed Knuckles, the Canucks need to choose a primary logo and stick with it. The Johnny Canuck V would look great as a primary with the stick in rink as shoulder patches. Basically, the 'nucks should switch the logos on their current 3rd and make a white/blue set from that and then leave it! When the Winter Classic ever roles around for the Canucks, I wonder what jersey they would wear? As a Sens fan, I know tons of us are longing for the day that the =O= logo makes it's way on a jersey. Man, Reebok should employ everyone on this site and the NHL would look great!
I also agree on the Johnny Canuck logo. It is great.! They just have to make that their primary. Nothing else they've had even compares. As a Thrasher fan, I never liked that goofy looking T thing. It should be history.
I find it sad that the sharks logo is beating the blues, because some people feel the blues logo shouldn't be in this contest...
I'm a canucks fan but i still hate the Johnny V logo... i guess its just too cartoony and kinda ugly. It looks almost childish... but thats just me.
I also don't like that Johnny Canuck logo. It IS too cartoony. They should just stick with what they have for 10 years so they can say they stuck with a jersey for a decent amount of time. At the most they should change the 3rd jersey and only the 3rd jersey.
I guess the real question for the Canucks should be: just what should their logo be? They've had the stick in rink, the "plate of spaghetti" skate and the orca whale over the course of their 40 year history. By all accounts, they've had the most success (2 stanley cup final appearances) with the black, red/orange and yellow skate logo. However, I feel the original blue/green/white combo represents the west coast and the team best. Perhaps a solution would be to have the skate logo converted into the blue/green/white color coordination and BOOM! instant identity. I do like the Johnny Canuck V logo for the simple fact that it incorporates the V that the Millionaires used to wear with the face of the current Vancouver team's namesake.
I don't know NEV, I've seen concepts of that jersey and it is ugly. They could however use blue/green/white for home and away with black/orange/red/yellow for the 3rd or vice versa.
