Lets just congratulate Matt McElroys logo on winning...is that acceptable right now? Two thumbs up!
I love the Johnny Woods logo. It's really brilliant, but I'm not a fan of the color scheme. The Matt McElroy set is great, but the wordmark reminds me too much of the Seattle SuperSonics NBA team. My favorite is probably the Tim Schellenberg logo. Its not too flashy, but it looks great and there's nothing at all objectionable about it.
I really hoped that there would be a diamond in the rough, but I only find a couple of these workable at best.
No disrespect to the artists for working with what they had, but this is just disappointing.
My only hope is that one of the (IMO) better ones at least replaces the Canuck colored Giants logo currently used.
I'm sorry, as I hate being negative about this, but there has got to be a better concept for this name out there.
Thanks, March. I actually designed that as a "Winter Classic" scheme months ago where IceHL teams wear throwback/vintage uniforms with older logos. The V aligns with the top of the axe, I did a solid handle, and all of a sudden, the magic hockey sticks popped out. I made the handle with double lines to give the sticks some 3D depth...and then the LJ appeared!
Modern version of the Hartford Whalers negative space?
I think Johnny Woods "LJ" logo and Mark's "V" are pretty original.
I really like Matt McElroy's set. Other than McElroy's set and the current set, there really isn't anything else here that I like, no offense to the other artists.
I really love Tim Schellenberg's set. Surprised it isn't getting more love. It is classic, but still modern. By far my favourite, I think that it would look the best on a jersey out of all of them.
Tim Schellenberg or Matt McElroy
Have to agree with Rob, I wish the artists had gone with more unique colour schemes. Matt Mcelroy's isnt great in my opinion. The Sasquatch looks terrible and the primary is far too cartoony.
I think Tim Schellenberg has the winner here. Classy and gets away from both the Giants and Canucks and gives us something new. Very well done for a name I despise!
I can't decide between Matt McElroy and Jesse Feltner. I like the Chewbacca thing, but I also love the flannel. Tie!
To me, there isn't even a competition on this one. Not that I think any are terrible, Jesse Feltner's is just do good that it wins this, hands down.
I like McElroy's set and I know he didn't copy it but when I see it all I see is the Portland Timbers.
I think a lot of these are really good. I wish Johnny Woods design was getting more love
I have to admit I didn't see the ax in johnny's logo at first. Now that I see it I like it much better. I thought it was just VLJ in some odd configuration LOL.
Jesse has the most eye-appealing one - just different but inviting. Johnny has a great symbol people can rally around. Adam's hat. The trees in Matt's word mark - there's something nice about it. Nick's is cool and clever but too much Vancouver Grizzlies - colors, totem pole.
Tim's VL is awkward. It looks like the V is pushing or bending over the L, or the L is trying to muscle in. The L looks too narrow. Mark's teal is way too dull - hurts the eyes. Don't know why.
I'd be fun if Jesse Feltner's logo is picked, then we can work in some flannel pattern sleeve and hem strips on the jerseys!
Vancouver's looks are a two-horse race between Matt McElroy and Tim Schellenberg.
McElroy's set is a really solid look that isn't anything like what we've seen before, so big kudos to that.
While some may think Schellenberg's is drab, I think it looks great! It's another step away from the present designs and I think it has an enduring look to it.
Feltner's logos are okay, but I see a lot of gimmicky jersey designs coming if that one wins...
