these are all better then the new dallas logo
There are two logos that look a lot like the NJ outlaws of the fhl.
Francis Matte or Stewart Phillips (Gold)
Matte's Outlaws' logo is ripped off from the FHL's New Jersey/Williamsport Outlaws. Look specifically at the bandana. http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/94lo8b1c1pwvlwfkx2egd5r6l/New_Jersey_Outlaws/2012/Partial_Logo
Adam Hainsfurther captures what Texas is. It is disappointing that 65% have voted negative.
I like how Ben Macdonald and Johnny Woods treated the state shape in their primary logos. Even though there are some color issues and the rest of their sets aren't the strongest, those primary logos are instantly recognizable and tell the whole "story" of the team at a glance. They have my vote.
A lot of similar ideas in this set. Francis Matte's logo set is really nice, but the lawman's star badge is a head scratcher for a team called the Outlaws. Now that I think about it, I'd rather not see any stars. Way overdone in this league. I'm not digging the evil blank eyes on a lot of these. They look took much like the New Jersey Outlaws. I also like Johnny Woods and Ben MacDonald's primary logos. It's very creative. I don't think changing the colors on the Texas flag was a good idea though. Anyways, I think Mark Morgan's is my favorite one here. The alternate logo isn't very exciting, but it's my favorite primary logo and the wordmark is pretty nice.
If ever a team needed a new name it's a shame you go through all this and end up with the same garbage we had before. People have some terrible taste and its unfortunate as this is meant to inspire people. Having said that the Adam Hainsfurther was by far the best logo here and still people vote against it. Crying shame. It's classic while capturing Texas and it would look amazing on a jersey.
Derek Heilmann gets my vote because it's the most bad-ass package. Two logos, bold & to the point.
You know what Garrett? Until we see some of your creations here, I would avoid using words like "garbage" and "terrible taste". I think people did a pretty good job considering it's a fun and fictional hockey league. I know I worked in my free time, aside from my real job, like most designers here I'm sure.
Everytime I see that blue, gold, and black combo all I can think about is the late 1990s/early 2000s washington caps
Six bandana logos...
I agree with March about not changing the Texas flag colors. Johnny - if your bandana was red (as it stereotypically is) and the hat was blue/navy, your secondaries would be correct. Nick's outline is great - can easily see that on the front of a jersey.
Adam's: "It's classic while capturing Texas " Bullets? Chamber? A gun captures Texas??? Sadly, there was another bullet logo. Brandon has some sharp angles. Maybe more angles/less curves
For Texas, the new logos are done best by Francis Matte, stewart Phillips and Mark Morgan.
Matte's look is a really nice two-tone look that is a cool, aggressive take on the outlaw, so while it might be similar in the prominent features the original set has, the way it's done is really solid.
Phillips' logo looks good with both colors, but the gold set makes everything pop a bit more. Very solid stuff that isn't the outlaw design. Similarly, props to Matt McElroy's train design for going outside the box.
Lastly, Morgan's look has a more traditional feel while updating the look at present. The colors work well and I think it's a solid design.
Simon: It's not just the gun that captures Texas. It's the shape of the state(I voted against everyone who didn't include it), the seal, the font, and the gun. It is the perfect logo. This was the team I was most looking forward to seeing the great things people could come up with and was disappointed by genericness of most of the logos. Every other logo, except Matt McElroy's, looks exactly the same and aren't as good as the current logo. I think the IceHL has shown why real teams don't ask random people to vote on things.
