0249: Rollin' on the River

AHL Week keeps rolling today with the Peoria Rivermen. Last month, the Rivermen announced the winner of a fan-focused jersey design contest. Today we're taking a look at a couple of the entries that were also considered (and sent my way). Mitch Whitlock tried a Predators-style all gold sweater. But the P/Illionois shoulder patch is pretty cool.
And Eric Andrews went the way of the wordmark, which is starting to become more common than a lot of us would prefer. And it screams Buffalo Sabres. Not sure the Blues would dig that. But that's just my take. What do you think of these two?

The striping hurts these in my eyes. The striping is way too thin, and I agree. Wordmarks are the pits.
I also like the P inside the Illinois map for a shoulder patch, thats a neat idea. Not sold on the remainder of the jersey though. The 2nd jersey is quite good and I like the wordmark although the colours/style is WAY too close to Buffalo for a St.Louis affiliate! The shoulder flashes on that jersey also look like a bit of an afterthought there.
The first one looks like it's missing something. Perhaps some striping at the waist. I also agree with Dylan, the striping is way too thin. As for the second one, I love it but it is too Buffalo for a St. Louis affiliate. I think it would look fantastic with the striping pattern from this blues jersey
