0029: HockeyTown to CougarTown

In today's Winter Classic concept, Matt McElroy is looking back at an early incarnation of Detroit's NHL club — the Detroit Cougars. This Red Wings uniform is designed to call back to elements of the Cougars' 1928 sweater. Personally, I think this is one of the best we've seen for Detroit, and it probably has the most potential. It's red with hints of vintage white and it definitely looks like it's about a hundred years old — the way these sweaters are supposed to look. Well done, Matt!

Absolutely gorgeous. My only suggestion is to lower the wordmark/logo a bit so it doesn't look so crowded with the captain's 'C' or alternate captain's 'A'.

Send these to the Red Wings. The best we've seen.

I keep throwing my money at the screen, but nothing is happening!

I agree with Bach. I'd also eliminate the top and bottom stripes on the sleeves and socks, but I'm not a big stripes guy. Great job! If the Wings WC sweaters look like this, I'll be buying one for sure!

Looks too yellowy.

I like the logo and stripes but Im really tired of seeing this beige/cream-white crap on every retro jersey. It looks especially bad with all red around it.

Absolutely love this design. Would drop $299 in a heartbeat for one of those sweaters. Also going to agree with eliminating a few stripes from the sleeves and socks (one or preferably two). Just not a fan of too many stripes. Less is more. Would really set it off!
