0177: Four Stripes on the Island

I think this is a very cool and inventive New York Islanders concept by Justin Cox. We haven't seen one quite like this before. I like the stripes but the biggest problem I foresee is in the striping itself. These groups of four stripes were created on a patch for a purpose — to celebrate the club's four Stanley Cups. So what happens if they win another? Change the uniform again? That could get old if the team ever got good. Regardless, I like the anchor. Seems like anchors and lighthouses would be great symbolism for the Isles but they just don't seem to be interested.

One of the few, and possibly the best, Isles concept I've seen. Get rid of those anchors and it would be flawless. In the unlikely event the Isles win a Cup anytime soon, the 4 stripes can remain to specifically honor that great dynasty.
I was born on Long Island, and lived their for 27 years of my life. The Islanders play miles away from the nearest body of water. Anchors and lighthouses don't symbolize all of Long Island.
I like the concept jersey, anything is better than the current 3rd jersey.
Yes, I would definitely take this over the disaster that is the current third jersey. Seems a touch bith busy with the stripes, but not bad at all.
Certainly an improvement over their current third.... not that that's saying much. But it actually is a pretty sharp look. Don't think it's as good as their current home and away sweaters, but still pretty solid and would be a marked improvement if implemented as their third.
I'm currently mulling on sending this to one of my friends, former Islander Jean Potvin (who is responsible for allowing his brother Denis to play in the NHL). Regarding the striping, should the Isles win a 5th cup, I'd have them resemble the dynasty from the 80s, which is why the current logo added the 4th stripe. Unfortunately, I cannot tell if the logo on this concept bears the four stripes, but nonetheless, I love it, and this is coming from an Islander season ticket holder. However, I would take out the anchor shoulder patch, and instead replace it with the NY logo that's seen on this concept's pants. Or to make it a 3rd jersey, switch the NY logo on the pants to the crest, remove the anchor, place the primary logo on the shoulders and have the Islanders wordmark that were on the helmets 2-3 years ago on the pants instead because the anchor has nothing to do with Long Island or the Islanders really. Uniondale is in the center of the island, it's not near a beach. Otherwise, love it! 6-stars!
like the jerseys except for the anchors maybe put 2 hockey sticks in its place but other than that its a great design and much better than what they have now
